Left over 2014

Bought my 08 Ram 2500 in March of 09 and paid $30k even. Put 59k miles on it and sold it 5 weeks ago for $27,500. It was mint with new tires and always garage kept. Just bought my new 14 3500 DRW Laramie 4 weeks ago for $17k off sticker with the options I wanted and plan to keep it for at least 10 years. I think I got a good deal and you can't tell it from a 15. I would do it in a minute.

OP being it is a Cummins and at that price it would be a great buy! I sold my 2004 for $18,500 that was bought for $26,500 ish due to the rebates on the early 2004 trucks. drove it for 10 years and put 150,000 miles on it. So much for that BS cost of ownership of a diesel truck LOL

Warning though, if you do buy it you might start having a craving for Chimichangas and Margaritas! LOL

I would buy the truck without hesitation. With the 2014 trucks you know if there are any problems with them but it is anybody's guess as to how reliable the 2016 trucks will be.

Lots of changes coming with trucks in the 2016-2017 timeframe as they will be using lower viscosity motor oil to improve fuel economy and the engine manufacturers and the engine oil manufacturers are still in testing. The new engines will require special motor oil and I would expect problems if standard oil is used in error at a quick lube store.
With a 2014-2015 truck this will not be a concern.

I bought my 2013 in April, 2014. I got a fantastic price on the truck, decent trade in value, and a ton of extras thrown in including picture frame adapter, sliding 20k fifth wheel hitch, eom chrome step bars, and all weather floor mats. The truck also still qualified for the same finance rate the 2014 models at the time did.

I plan on keeping this truck for a very long time so a model year older did not matter to me. There are also very few differences in the 2013-2015 Ram 3500 trucks.

I have no regrets and don't think you would either!

FWIW the destination charge for each and every veehickle (by model) is exactly the same nation wide.

My dad used to calculate destination charges before he retired.

The truck may be two models old, but I would guess it's a holdover and would receive new warranty coverage. If so, then you aren't too far off with that price. However, you might ask him to drop it another $5,000 or so or so as the value will probably really plunge when driven off the lot. You might also take a look at Edmunds value stuff and see what they say. I think they have columns for various pricing including what would it really sell for. Might be an interesting look.

I'd take the deal, sounds good to me. I just bought a 2015 Laramie and spent a whole lot more! :E

My brother just bought a RAM 2500 (new) 2013 SLT CTD two door 8' bed off the lot this last November and paid $35,000! He's got the same warranty as me. He also keeps his trucks for 10 plus years. I think he got a great deal, it was everything he was looking for in a truck.
