loading and unloading supplies

We are now full-time, but when we weren't, I'd use a large laundry basket and fill it with as much as I or my hubby could lift. It was a PITA no matter how you do it. :(

We use these ACTION PACKER containers (WALMART-LOWES). I think mine are the 24-gallon size.



We have five or six of these that stores great in the garage and are labeled for what type of supplies go in them...

Made life easier for us...

We usually don't stock up on groceries until we get to the camp ground. Always like to stop at a WALMART and pick up what we need just before going into the camp ground. I always like to know where the WALMART and LOWES store is anyway in case of emergency repairs...

On the day before departure, DH moves the 5er into the driveway and parks within 20 ft of back porch steps. I have soft bins I use to pack some of our smaller clothing items which I put on the closet shelf in the house when we return from a trip. These are re-packed and carried out filled. Hanging clothes - I just carry on the hangers. The food items are loaded into a large basket with handle and I make quite a few trips back and forth with that. I, too, leave very little in the 5er when it's parked in the yard. After 47 years of camping, I really have not come across an easy way.

We have a small 4 wheel wagon that we use, but our MH only gets a minor unloading during the season of use. If the item can be effected by heat it is unloaded, if not it stays in the MH. When the season is over with then we unload more things, but we never empty it completely.

It depends on the particular item. Things that belong in the camper (camp tools, bed coverings, utensils, etc.) stay between trips. Perishables are removed, some clothing is removed, some stays if doesn't need washing.

Not sure what "lots of stuff" you could possibly be moving from the house to trailer in preparation for a trip :h ... for us it's just food which we prefer to not leave sitting in a hot trailer between trips, anything else is already in the trailer so it really takes little time and effort at all to prep for a trip. Anything we do transfer we just toss in whatever cardboard box we may happen to have handy and carry it out to the trailer. JMO, but if you're putting any more effort into this process then you're missing one of the great advantages of keeping your rig at home rather in a remote storage lot.

How long between outings? We take what will spoil in the fridge, in one of those bags you take to the grocery store, and we take clothes. Everything else is in the camper. There isn't that much to move but depending on the weather, I sometimes park on the front lawn right next to the porch.

Have several colapsable baskets that work great. BTW the only things that come out of the RV are the electronics and pershiable food.

Most of the time I leave everything in except perishables then I use the ZIP LOCK tote to take out anything that is needed and put things back in.

They are also handy to keep seasonal stuff stored in so moving that stuff back and forth is easier,With yearound camping here it really helps.

They have handles for easy movement and folds up when not in use so it is easy to store.

I need a wagon maybe, and totes,,,,we try and go every couple weeks,,,,and all I could do is run frig on gas while sitting there
