Here is a link to survey data from USA Today for the percentage of vehicle types with over 200,000 miles on them.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2014/02/23/long-lasting-200000-miles/5704783/

The biggest surprise to me was no Rams. The next surprise was that Chevrolets either outlast or simply get driven more that the GMC counterparts.

Here is a summary of the data:

1. Ford F-250 Super Duty, 4.3%

2. Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD, 3.6%

3. Chevrolet Suburban, 3.6%

4. Toyota 4Runner, 3.5%

5. Ford Expedition, 3%

6. GMC Sierra 2500HD, 2.7%

7. Chevrolet Tahoe, 2.1%

8. GMC Yukon XL, 1.9%

9. Toyota Sequoia. 1.7%

10. GMC Sierra 1500, 1.6%

11. GMC Yukon, 1.6%

I grew up in an All Ford/Only Ford powerline construction family business. We operated 20+ Fords from F-150 thru F-800 trucks ... I like Fords.

However, as my sig line shows, my current tow vehicle is a Dodge Cummins with a little over 200k on it now, and I have no immediate plans to replace it. The lure of the new truck smell is strong, but this truck continues to do the job, and has been paid off for many years.

It would be more interesting to see the current age of these owners. I'll bet you find an older population are the one's keeping the older trucks and maintaining them with more attention for longevity than some of the younger owners. I don't know about you, but I've seen too many "old timers" hanging on to their "older" trucks. There's a pride principle there I think. Younger folks just want the newest and flashiest! (I may be stereotyping age here, but there really is a different mind-set between someone who is 22 years old and someone who is 52 years old.

I think the percentages are of total vehicles sold of that model, 4.3% of Fords made it to 200,000.

I like loud exhaust....:B

What percentage does Ford sell over the others? What's the percentage that Ford has still on the road? Numbers don't add up if you asked me.

Ford stays on top. In just about every category. Even though the envious haters don't like it.

Mr. Gordon has a phenomenal achievement and has driven 3,000,000 (Yes, 3 Million!) miles in the same car - a shiny, red 1966 Volvo P1800. Gordon, a 74-year-old retired science teacher from Patchogue, N.Y., holds the Guinness Book of World Records recognition for most miles driven by a single owner in a non-commercial vehicle, and has driven over 3 million miles in his shiny red Volvo.

So take that Ford! 😉
The problem with the Volvo is the smell from the drivers pipe.

Would sure like to see the list of maintenance & repairs performed on that 66 Volvo over the years.

Our 2007 XC90 V8 is a blast to drive but I'm pretty disappointed that at just over 80,000mi I have a recurring CEL (fuel pressure sensor, on the to-do list), front struts that are absolutely, 100% shot (noisy ride, horrible tire wear), and strange-acting power windows (passenger side has a mind of its own).

We love the car but I'm used to Land Cruisers that might require a non-maintenance repair every 150,000mi or so. Grrrr.

Math dictates that if I hit 3 million miles on this Volvo, I will have replaced the front struts about 38 times and dealt with over 3 dozen CELs.

I was waiting for that....:B

My 01' Ram with 200,000 on it didn't make the list, only issue I had was a fuel filter.

My buddy's 96' Chevy 1500 apparantely did make the list though, it had 235,000 miles on it and that guy treated that poor truck like garbage.

Anyway, these polls are so goofy they aren't really even worth bringing up, I mean come on, Ford on top !?!?

I think the list is a little flawed. They should have included vehicle registrations (mileage recorded yearly)...

My word of mouth sale of a '97 GMC K1500 with 244k wasn't included.
My dad's currently owned '01 Cummins with 257k wasn't included.
My '05 Ford Escape with 204k wasn't included.

I wonder if the list would be different if currently registered vehicles with over 200k were used.
