Looking for new batteries

We do quite a bit of dry camping where we need to use the batterys for the refrigerator lights and miscellaneous stuff.
My old batteries have had it after three years ...My question is what would be a good battery to buy that would give me the longest lasting charge. Keeping with the 12 Volt system and 24 inch That it's my battery trays... Right now I have two 12 V battery running in Parallel...
  • Depends on how much room you might have.
4-6VDC Golf Cart batteries will give you more available power. But they take up a lot of real estate.
  • And 6-volt golf cart batteries should last a lot longer then 3 years too. They are true deep cycle batteries and can take repeated discharges (should not go below 50%) and recharges much better then 12-volt batteries.
  • What brand/model were your old batteries? Should have lasted much longer than 3 years. How are you keeping them charged? Maybe it's not the batteries!

    Exactly what I was thinking.

You shouldn't discharge more than 50%.
You need to make sure to check the water levels monthly or so.
Keep it fully charged (trailer plugged in, on a battery minder or charged and then disconnected from system).

If you do these three things, most batteries will give you 5-6 years service easily.
