Those insisting on mounting to their rig's bumper may be interested in products by Mount-n-Lock, particularly their Safety Struts which bolt the the trailer frame and are designed to prevent bumper failure.

Put a tandem bike rack on the back of our Fun Finder. Just got back from a 3000 mile trip. Still looks good. No cracked welds, and I check it at every stop

I made a frame that fits over the propane tanks. carried both our bikes

I took off the wheel and mounted the bracket that holds the front.
the pedal fit right on top of platform, and I put a bolt thru it to secure it. no movement at all. unit comes right off to fill propane.

My bumper seems pretty stout. The bumper bracket is welded to the 6" I beam that runs the length of the trailer. The bumper is heavy gauge steel and reinforced where the bumper is welded to the bracket.

They work like a champ and stop all rattle and movement on a receiver.

There is no reciever involved with this rack. The hitch pins are in the hinge parts... Two pins for each side. One acts as the hinge, the other is for the position of the rack. Insert it in one hole for the deployed position and the other for the folded up position.. Or you can remove the rack completely by pulling all of the pins.

That is very similar to the one that came on my 2010 Sabre... Even the yellow sticker which states a capacity of 450#. This design doesn't rely on the bumper for support. It is bolted right to the frame. The rack portion is changed from what mine has, but the rest is identical. Propbably an evolution of the design.
I see no reason why this rack could not work on other brand TTs that have a suitable frame to mount to.... Not sure how you would determine a safe weight rating though. Just because the rack is good for 450#, doesn't mean that you can bolt it on any TT and expect it to be able to carry that much.

I absolutly love mine. I think it is the best rack in the buisiness.
I even mounted a small deep freezer on one side of it for my extended boondocking trips.

I made one mod to it. The hitch pins were a somewhat loose fit, allowing some movement of the rack up and down. This became a problem with the freezer, as it would hit the ladder when going over roads that had a lot of frost heave bumps. So I bought the next size up hitch pins and drilled out the holes for a perfect fit.

Hope this works. I take the front wheels off the bikes and clamp them in the fork clamps. Then secure them to the rack with the frame straps. The tires set in betwee the bikes and rest on the pedals. I then run a cable lock thru all the tires and frames and around the ladder. It's all very solid.

Arrg. Can't get pick to post.
Anyway. I made two receiver brackets that bolt/weld to the bumper and frame. Then made a slide in rack for two bikes. Been on the trailer for 3 seasons and 10,000 miles.

I will try and get a pic posted.

I understand excessive weight can be an issue on the back of the trailer. What I am looking for is a large platform so I can carry a folding trike bicycle and a regular bicycle. Weight will not be over 75lbs...not including the carrier...

The Lippert link provided is the carrier.

I have seen them on fivers but not so much on TT's .

Fiver frames seem to be heavier and the TV on a fiver carries hitch weight over its rear axle opposed to the end of its bumper hitch with a TT.
I'm assuming that you have already looked into the weight distribution calculations re: adding weight to the rear effecting tongue weight on the TV .

https://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/24730980/print/true.cfm

If weight distribution on the hitch is not an issue on your TT , I would think a frame mount fabrication would be a more solid necessary application. See pics in below link.

I like the fact that it is connected to the arms that the bumper is supported by. Probably some of the weight is on the bumper but not most of it. Many people have learned the hard way that the bumper cannot support additional weight.
