To add my own two cents...

I know a lot of old timers get annoyed when a topic comes up for the upteenth time but unless the posting is egregiously duplicitive (similar topic on the front page as an example), I think it is healthy to have the same discussions come up repeatedly over the years. New people, new technology, new ideas means new ways to solve old problems. In many ways, forums like this are like the old campfires of old where traditions and tribal knowledge were passed on from one generation to another. Every day around the campfire there are new people joining while others are leaving, it is just the way life works.

Speaking of life, I would also venture to guess that as long as this forum has been around, many of the original posters have likely moved on to later stages of life or are now wandering the highways in the sky. As much as we enjoy the freedom a truck camper brings to us, the reality is that the nature of the platform is such that it can be difficult for people with health conditions. Lots of steps, high beds, limited space and other limitations are not always conducive to old bones and hence why so many people move on to trailers later in life.

That's why I stopped posting photos too.

I do videos now, but people don't seem to care much for watching a video

I read your posts and watch your videos! Enjoy all of them!

Many things that are technical and wordy folks will not read or do not comprehend.

I have backed away a lot over the past year.

One thing that has happened is that we have worked through a lot of problems that were prevalent in the 90's. Converters, solar, fridges, batteries, weight, towing etc... The MFG have resolved a lot of the early issues which is great.

Some of us communicate via email and PM's for tech help or answers to problems.

US is a country run by marketers.
Even engine oil changes intervals here are dictated by lawyers.
You go to buy groceries and you won't find how much a pound of tomatoes cost anymore.
It is going to be "3 lb for $1" or "buy 1, get 1 for 50% off"
I am bargain hunter and often buy items that have 3 different prices on the same day, depends who you are.
But coming to FB - in the past local guides would say
"What happens in Las Vegas stays in Las Vegas"
Today they say
"what happens in Las Vegas is on FB an hour later".

I do not want myself marketed to others as a product, so I do not participate in Facebook. I admit I am not like the majority of Internet users in that I value my privacy. I would be naive to think that there isn't data about me on the Internet. However by avoiding platforms like Facebook, I at least don't make myself the easy target.

I agree completely. Some of my friends tell me it doesn't matter because "they" know everything anyway. But I know they don't and I know that the less involved I am with Facebook and other similar sites, the less I can be marketed. I know that some people don't care about that and that's fine, but some people do care and I'm glad we still have the option.

I don't like how everything still seems to be geared toward FB in the internet. Places I like don't have websites but have FB pages, so I don't visit them on the web. People sell on the FB Marketplace instead of local online sites. And people share information about what they're doing on FB, like a press-release, instead of emailing someone directly to check in. And yes, it has killed many a thriving fora. The university where I used to go had its own forum service that people from all over campus would use to discuss all sorts of matters, but as FB got more popular, people would use it less. And I fully believe that because people interact mostly, or only, on these types of platforms, they are less often exposed to real people with differing opinions (but they are exposed to Soviet trolls!).

I am trying to be more active on the various places I have joined to replace the FB discussions. It's more work, too, to log in to a bunch of different sites when FB is just one place, but that's the way it goes...

I agree-I prefer them, too. Especially since posting in here isn't going to become part of my permanent Facebook record that is analyzed for their marketing uses!

Yep, I was in the Anaheim store for YEARS...at one point we bought Shelly's audio and a couple more little chains and hit 64 stores in total....those were good times.

Do you remember the Pioneer KPX 9000, dual amp equalizer, and the GM 120's. Still my favorite car stereo.

Hahaha...I still have a high end 20 year old Alpine in Red with a CD changer in the console.

My brother has an old Blaupunkt under dash and 10 cd changer in the trunk in his 67 GTO. SOUNDS GREAT TOO...

I put a Pioneer in my S&S

because of sites horrible photo posting process !

All a person has to do is join a free photo hosting site, like Photobucket was in the past..IMGUR is every bit as easy to post off of as Photobucket was and it works basically the same way..Copy the direct link of the image chosen and insert it in the image address of this sites image box along with the 640X440/440X640 size...

Then you are not limited to just using RV.net for pictures.

x100.

There's about 3 like that, then there's a handful of other people that post rude/sarcastic replies which ad no content to the thread.
I don't have time for negativity in my life, so It's time to move on.
