Loss of power on my 06 Sierra D/A

Hi Folks
We just returned from Glacier National Park. On the way I lost power 100 miles from Glacier. Replaced the Fuel Filter and no problems. Heading home same deal - but twice I lost power. Changed three fuel filters total and made it home. Today check engine light goes out and back to perfect. Oh I was towing our 32ft fiver. It seemed to act up on the 400 mile mark of towing for the day. I read about fuel lines going bad? Any thoughts?
Bad fuel?
It goes to the shop this week for a check up!

    Hi Again
    Quick update-code was P0087. My Mechanic found two badly worn Fuel Lines over the tranny. Both where real soft and kinda gooy.

    Go to Auto Zone and they will check codes for free. You can then Google the code before taking it in.

    I guess (went through) is wrong. I changed the filter three times in 2500 mikes thinking bad fuel. No message to indicate fuel filter.

    Rash of Duramax issues lately with the heat waves. If you had a CEL, I'd get it looked at. I recently posted in another thread about these engine losing their prime due to fuel filter housings and sucking air while running down the road could be contributed to the same thing.

    When you say you went through two fuel filters what do you mean, was it the dash indicator telling you? If so and you don't have a lift pump I would be looking for collapsing fuel lines, there have been quite a few posts about it on some of the diesel forums.

    I tried to fuel up at the busy places. Did get fuel at a Tesoro in Fargo on the way home and went through two filters from Fargo home. My daughter googled Tesoro and yikes! May be bad fuel.

    Either way your CEL came on so there should be a code stored for the diesel tech to read and I'm sure will be a simple repair thereafter.


    This ^^^^^^ Check for codes. Could be a lot of things but sounds like a low fuel pressure deal to me?

    Not sure of the issue but just had our 2015.5 fuel and spin on transmission filter done in preparation for our trip to Glacier in August. Did you have any issues/concerns with fuel quality along the way that would've led to your issues?
