The above is rarely considered. Most of the time all people look is the spec that says I can tow XX,XXX and think they are good to go up to that number.

I said nothing about people looking at it, only that is was the most limiting number with a 5th wheel.

Now I will say it. People should be looking at this number!!!!

Ford has always only makes/sells/sold ONE designation of trucks and ALL are called F-series for over 60 years now. 150 thru 750 model lines generally and includes the Ranger line. Even had a 100 series full size truck in the series for many years too. Look it up and do your research!

GM makes/sells/sold 4 lines of trucks in various model series presently and has made up to 7+ at one time. Presently is the production of the Silverado, Sierra, Colorado, and Canyon and soon will be adding the 450 and 550 lines again so it will be 6 lines then. Past lines were these 6 plus the Avalanche and don't forget the Luv trucks! All are available/sold in the pickup version also.

A bushel of apples is a bushel of apples whether all are Northern Spies or are a combination of 20+ different lines or variety names! Still apples!

What's so hard to understand about recorded documented/verified facts?

All though I agree with the spirit of your post there are some details slightly off:

1. Ford did have Mercury and Lincoln trucks in the past
2. Ford never included the Courier or Ranger in its F series line

Although GM sold trucks through Pontiac, GMC, Chevy, Cadillac and Hummer, I rarely see sales reports that show combined sales instead of sales broken down by division. I'm not sure the why of the economics or politics within GM, but they feel it should be divided for some reason (maybe to justify the existence of that division).

Me Again,

Rear tire capacity and max inflation is usually exceeded long before GRAWR in nearly all trucks used for pulling or hauling RV's. Officer, I know my tires blew out from being overloaded but I'm still below my rear axle's weight rating! Try that and see where it gets you!!!

What about us that don't look at that number that says I can tow XX,XXX and goes over that but keeps it at or below axle and tire rating? :B

For those interested, some of the commercial truck rags will show the class 3 thru6 or 7-8 trucks sales by manufacture. I personally have not seen a break out of class 3 dw vs sw. Other than for most years in the past, a sw 25 series being as the gvwr was below 10000 lbs, it was really a DOT hd class 2 truck, or what I call a HD 3/4 ton!
With many of the sw35's being over 10K in gvwr, they do truly fall into the DOT class 3 trucks or 1 tons. Again, not sure you will get or find a break out somewhere.

Marty

At 11,700 for my 3500 SB RAM and 12,300 for the LB version, they are rated higher that most duallies from a few years ago. Of course it weighs in at around 8K, so that limits capacity. Again the RGAWR is the most limiting number with a 5th wheel.

Don't forget the Big "C" !

I think the sales look good!

Honestly all I care about is the 350/3500 SRW and MOSTLY DRW results. I have passed the 2500 and lower segment!

Anyone have just the 350/3500 results and preferably the DRW segment separately?

I always have to chuckle at some of you guys. Comment to rub numbers in the face of another user(s) just to go into denial when the same numbers are used against your truck of choice.

SMDH. I remember when I was 6.
