I had my dealer install a maxxfan 4500 with the rain sensor last month.. I am wondering if anyone else has this? so far in 4 weekend outing at my seasonal site it has rained 4 times...not once has the sensor closed my fan. the first couple times it was a light rain and some rain was getting inside camper, but very light... this past weekend it started downpouring... hard enough where I was getting puddles on my floor after 5 minutes of raining..it was pouring in from the fan..i had to manually close the fan... after it stopped raining I had to take the blades off and take a rag and dry off the whole unit.. I accidently touched the sensor with my hand and it closed..LOL...once it finally opened again I took a wet rag and got the sensor wet again and it closed again..... so it seems it works when it is wet... but why in the world will it not close when it supposes to when it rains?
I called the company today, he said since the sensor works when I wet it then nothing is wrong.. I said yeah, but what is the point of it if it has yet to close while its raining? he did advise that maybe since its left on exchaust that the fan might be blowing the rain away from the sensor... seems odd..
anyways, anyone else own these? any experience? my camper is on a seasonal site, so I wont have it back to dealer... I paid good money for this unit and for the sensor to work... I guess its working when I manually wet it, but cant for the life of me figure out why it wont work in the rain.. oh, he also said that it might have rained so hard this weekend that that the rain built up around the unit and poured in thru the fan that way, but just happened to miss the sensor..once again, makes no sense...LOL..thank you..
