Measuring for rv cover

We are looking at Adco covers for our TT. I measure the box at 28'6", no ladder and I dont care to cover the spare tire or bumper.
Which cover would be the best fit? 26'1" to 28'6" or 28'7" to 31'6"?
  • Thanks for all the input. We used Adco cover on our last TT. It measured in between the min and max of the cover we had, so it was easy to get the right size. With the new camper being right on the max number, I was just not sure. Adco advises to take measurement and include the spare, that puts me into the larger size. I guess that is what I will do. Thanks again.
  • Tarps are not considered a good cover. They can scuff the finish and they are not breathable. The ADCO covers are breathable, soft fabric, will not scuff. Some have said theirs didn't last very long. Our ADCO for our HTT was in near perfect condition at 7 years when we sold the trailer and included it. If you are getting it at CW, just tell them the make and model of your trailer and they'll know the correct size. Easier just to cover the whole thing, including spare and bumper. You'll need a ladder and a friend is helpful, but you can do it alone. READ ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE YOU START. You'll save yourself a lot of grief to know exactly what to do first. Personal opinion is that they'll last equal to the care they're given and the way they're put on - pool noodles or some type of foam over the edges of the drip spout. You should be good for several years.
  • I personally would go larger. Actually, I have. My 33'9" fiver is covered by a 34-37' Tyvek cover. The excess is easily folded and tucked at the rear. Never had any problems with it, and would hate to try to wrestle one on if it was even a couple inches over or under, ac took up too much, etc.
  • Call or email the vendor and ask them that question. I would guess the larger one in case they run slightly small. As to moisture, I would also expect Adco covers to have vents and be constructed such that they don't trap moisture to cause mold and mildew..
  • Some would say a tarp is not a good idea due to heat building up under it, as well as air not being able to circulate to control condensation. They would argue that it is not great for your roof. I have a sunshield tarp, but I have never tested it to see how hot it gets underneath in the summer.

I have read a lot of posts stating this. I have no experience myself with tarps over a camper.
  • The best would be a Sunshield tarp to cover all of the top and parts of the sides depending on what size you buy. It will last for years as does ours.
