DW and I are headed to Michigan August 18- September 10. What places fall in the "don't miss" category? AND does anything shut down after Labor Day? Thanks for the help and suggestions!

We were in the UP seven years ago and found some things we wanted to see were closed for the season. Check if you will be there.
And if you want to go to Canada you will need a passport to get back into the US.
