The moisture is coming from our bodies laying on the mattress.

Jer you need to get the mattress up off the deck and let it breathe underneath one thing that will work is a product called Dri-deck, it can be pricey but well worth it here is a link to the manufacture web site http://www.dri-dek.com. There are similar products out there.

I'd go with dri-dek also. It's a common problem to get moisture underneath a foam mattress. It's more likely caused by temperature differences than your body moisture. For example, it's cold outside, and warm inside, the mattress makes a good insulator between the bottom of the bed and the inside of the rig. That temperature difference can cause condensation.

Dry mesh at drymesh.net or blue or pink foam board from Lowe's or home depot also work.

Hypervent used in marine applications

This is what I used, it is to much in a roll for one person so I went in with a couple of other people and I bought a roll and we shared it. It is meant for cedar roof applications but it does give air flow under the mattress and this is what you need. Since I got mine we have not been out yet so I don't know how it is working.

Maybe insp1505 well post on here about how it is working for him. He is full timing in his NL in OR where they have a lot of humidty and was having the moisture problems under his mattress. He got 2 pieces and doubled up on the amount of cedar breather under his mattress.

Just bring it to Yukon in winter...the freezing cold inhibits mold growth. When we were living on Vancouver Island, everything had mold on it; not so here! Haven't had to clean black mold off the rubber roof since moving here! :B

Seriously though, why not just a thick shag carpet? Our camper mattress has carpet underneath it, would that give enough of a buffer?

My Adventurer innerspring mattress was carpeted underneath and still would get real damp when it was humid or raining. Drymesh worked great and much cheaper than Hypervent.

For 7 yrs. we FT'd and used a 9" Tempur-Pedic mattress.
We used a foam 'egg crate' under it.

No mold/mildew issues
