Molded front cap or not?

I'm looking for a TT in the 27-30 foot range and am wondering whether the ones with a fiberglass (or other) molded front cap have more or less water problems than the non-molded caps? Any other pros or cons?
  • Mines ten years old and other than a few tiny chips it's good as new.
  • Had both types...Have a molded cap presently. If water gets behind either they will be a problem..If they stay sealed and dry, both will preform well.

Seam where roof meets the cap and running lights and in our case a front window are all areas that can allow for water intrusion if not maintained.
  • Fiberglass caps have been used on fivers for more than a decade with good performance. I can't think of a single reason why a front cap on a TT would perform any different.

    Thanks!

  • I have only seen them.
I have 3 batteries behind the LP tanks. Not sure about access or just what is behind the molded fiberglass.

  • I really don't think it matters either way. As long as you keep on top of the caulking and maintainence then you should not have problems no matter what type of front or rear you have. It is most likely a matter of looks and possibly wind resistance where the caps help.
