Great tips!!! We're doing Niagara Falls at the end of the summer and we're going back and forth over staying in CA or US. I think we'll be staying in the US to avoid the hassle of the border crossing security theater.

Last time I checked, children under 16 years old only need a birth certificate to re-enter the US. The problem is not getting into Canada but returning to the US. That's where the passport/enhanced license is needed. Best to verify this by going online to US customs.
