Need Help.Thoughts , ideas, recommendations

My TT has 13 inch tires and are really borderline suitable for the weight of the trailer. I want to go up in size to a 14 inch tire for a better loading weight maximum. To do this I have to increase the wheel well height by one inch . What is the best way to gain this height . Dropping the axle? How ? Methods? appreciate thoughts and recommendations/experiences. Thanks very much
  • If he axles are on top of the springs, put them on the bottom. This will raise it at least two inches.

  • you can get load range D 13inch tires, but doing the axle flip is the easy way up.
  • It may be possible to increase the wheel size, without increasing the overall diameter. Have you checked the math to see if that option exists?

  • the closest is 205 70 R14.. But cannot find in LT or ST.. although that would fit in the wheel well. Currently using 185 80 D13.. Wanted to go up in size just to get more load rating. ??
  • If you end up flipping the axle, figure out a way to prevent over-travel of the suspension to prevent damage to the springs. New springs should be on your mind too. If you're maxed out on tire rating, spring rating probably is too.

Take a look at Hankook RA 08 195R14D

14" commercial tire load range D (8 ply) speed rating R (106 mph)

That is the answer- will fit my well and has 2000 lb load rating. A Passenger tire but hell it has a higher rating than the truck tire. Amazing ..Thanks
  • Hell yes! Now you can cruise at 100 without worrying about the trailer tires!!!!
