Need help with wiring harness

We have a 1977 prowler 19' I believe. I need to know where I can find a harness to be able to tow it with my 2003 ford e350. Anyone have one of the prowlers and knows what type of harness I need?
  • If you are going to move the trailer once to a campground and never move it again then perhaps make a deal with the dealer (or seller if a private sale) to have THEM move it to your site..
  • thank you guess we will be buying alot of stuff to move it all of 5 miles. but oh well better safe than sorry

You mean the "connector" on the van is not the same as the connector on the trailer? I assume your van has a 4-pin flat connector and your trailer has a 6-pin (or 7) round connector. Correct? If yes, you may be able to buy an adapter or even replace the connector on the van. A 4-pin connector is for lights only...does not have provisions for trailer brakes or 12vdc.

You really need to get more specific with your details.

You REALLY don't want to buy an "adapter" if you have the four pin "flat" style..

    LIKE THIS ONE

Adapting that will not give you electric brakes OR the battery charge line.

Flat connectors only give you stop, turn and running lights and is only good for trailers with surge brakes or small trailers of 3000 GVW or less which do not have electric brakes.

The connector you are looking for is 7 PIN "RV" STYLE CONNECTOR which is not to be confused with several OTHER round connectors which the wiring is NOT compatible.

You will need to buy the above 7 pin RV connector and wire in the existing connections from the four pin and add a battery charge line AND a BRAKE CONTROLLER wire (you WILL NEED to purchase a brake controller if your trailer HAS electric brakes).

  • we have a wire for lights on the van just not the same as the trailers. I have a hitch already installed on my van.
  • I suspect the OPs E350 van does not have a trailer plug in on it..

If that is the case, the van "may" have the wires you need tucked up in somewhere behind the bumper. I doubt that there is a plug in harness adapter and you will need to buy the 7 pin socket and wire the unterminated wires to the socket..

You will also most likely need to buy a brake controller and if you van does not have a 2" hitch receiver you will need to install that (don't use the bumper step to tow with).
  • the wire that hooks up for brake lights sorry. it has a wire but having a hard time finding a wire harness that will work going from the trailer to my truck.

Does your Prowler have the plug at the tongue to plug into your truck?

Sorry, don't quite understand. Do you need a "wiring" harness for the lights and brakes on the Prowler that you would install on your e350? Or do you need a "wiring" harness for the electrical that goes on the Prowler?

Not sure what other "harness" you could be talking about.
