I am going to order new tires tomorrow for my new to me 37' travel trailer weight sticker says 7200 empty. I have ran the power king towmax on several trailers for a couple years with out problems and they make a E rated tire. But I just want to make sure there is not something else I should look at. When I called the tire place yesterday of course they tried to push the carlisle RH tires but everything I have always read on carlisle is negative. I also have read about using LT tires but don't see anything in my size.

What you suggest and why?
Thanks in advance.

Use this Maxxis table to determine your minimum required psi - based upon your average wheel load.

http://www.maxxis.com/Repository/Files/m8008load.pdf

Then add 20 psi to minimum required psi, but do not exceed 80 psi.

Congrats on the new tires. I run 70lbs. in mine which are on a much lighter trailer than yours. Good luck.

Well just a update and thanks for steering me towards maxxis I did pick up all 4 on friday and mounted them yesterday. I did buy the 10 ply E rated tires for you that use these do you keep them aired to 80 or do you run less in them. When I installed them all yesterday I aired to 65 so far but will end up airing up this week.

I have load range E on my trailer , I have more reserve than I can ever use , over 2000 lbs , The original load range D had just shy of 200 lbs of the max trailer weight . I feel mush better with the heavier tire .

Trailers need tires determined by the GAWRs or GVWR not its dry weight.

I would use what the trailer manufacture recommends which is the D tire which should have plenty of capacity for your trailers axle needs. Using higher rated tires than necessary may not be the best choice for several reasons. One is the trailers wheels may not be rated for 80 psi (E) and the advantage of a E over a D tire comes at 80 psi. If your trailer wheels can handle 80 psi then you can take advantage of the E tires extra reserve capacity.

Also your getting input from folks with small lighter weight trailers that could make it fine on any brand ST tires.

A good upgrade option for your heavy 37' TT is move on up to a 16" LT. However with a 2500-2600 lb per wheel load requirement new 16" wheels and LT225/75-16 E tires @ 2680 lbs would be required.

This past weekend, I had two flats while going for the first trip of the year. Replaced one with the spare, and limped the last 20 miles on a single axle. Replaced all 4 tires the next day at the campground with Carlisle Radial Trails, beggars can't be choosers. We'll see how they hold up. Like was mentioned, the newer Carlisle's are supposed to be considerably better.

I've run E's the past 12,000 miles without problems. Tires seem to be holding up well. Good luck.

Okay I have located maxxis tires I have the D range tires on camper know that have max 65psi should I buy the maxxis 8 ply 65 psi (2540) or 10 ply 80 psi (2830). The 8 ply are only 10.00 dollars a tire cheaper. I pulled one of my wheels and can not find max air psi on them I only see made in usa and dot approved 15x6. You guys talked me into maxxis so I am waiting on tire place to call me back on 10ply lead time. I sure hope two or three days so I can mount them buy this weekend to use camper.

The Power King Towmax now has a new tire with improved heat resistance called the STR. All the negatives you read about Carlisle Tires ARE BASED ON THE OLD TIRES. They now have a new tire called the Radial Trail RH. It also has improved heat resistance. BOTH HAVE A NEW NYLON CAP LIKE THE MAXXIS TIRES. Also, Westlake has also added a Nylon cap to their ST trailer tires.

I am currently running 4 Carlisle RH tires on my trailer. I had them installed in Orlando and am now up in Vermont with no issues. I will be heading back out west an additional 2,000 miles.

I am just giving you options - you decide. You will not get any unbiased views on tires on this forum.....

Good luck!

I did some reading on the m8008 and I seen were another guy is looking for them and can't find them in his area due to backorder. I really don't want to have to order them online. I would like to buy from tiresplus I have 6 month intrest free with them and they owe me 75.00 off my next purchase anyway.
I am going to call them in the morning and see if they can get them for me. I have been looking around for the last half hour and not finding anything in a LT tire that has the weight rating. So I guess I am stuck with the st tires. I also am not sure how to find out if my steel wheels have the rating to handle the load range E tire.
