Ford is now selling the new 3.0L Powerstroke.

Once it is available across all trim levels, I will be looking at getting one.

I know they are in the higher trim levels.
Anyone have it?
What is it like to tow?
What is it like as a DD?

Those were designed by Navistar. This one is "in house".

I took one for a test drive. I was very impressed. It is so quiet you can’t tell it’s a diesel inside or outside. It was in the Lariat trim which is the same trim as my Lariat with the 2.7 litre. I was curious on fuel economy but shortly after I started my test drive it went into a regen so couldn’t get an indication of mpg. Didn’t have the power as my 2.7 but plenty powerful enough. Dealership has 2 in stock and 2 more landing soon. They still haven’t sold any baby Powerstrokes.

There are bound to be issues with ANY newly designed eng.

I am thinking that I will be buying in the 2020 model year. Gives the techs and engineers plenty of time to work out the bugs.

If you're not locked into Ford or a full sized PU, check out the Colorado with the little DMAX diesel. A friend has had one for a couple years and loves it. Claims to get over 30 mpg cruising on the highway. He does not tow anything however.

Detroit Free Press automotive writer reviewed one in Lariat trim last month. Sticker was north of $65,400. If I recall, the diesel is not available in every trim level.
