New Powerstroke 3.0L?

Ford is now selling the new 3.0L Powerstroke.

Once it is available across all trim levels, I will be looking at getting one.

I know they are in the higher trim levels.
Anyone have it?
What is it like to tow?
What is it like as a DD?

Mostly ones that had to have big money dumped into a "bulletproofing" or two. You can always spot them in the shop being the ones with the body lifted off the truck. Can't even get people to work on the 6.4s that haven't burned. The nearly ten year old Lion v6 diesel has to have a better track record than these two.
I would love to know where you got your facts to back up your statement.
The best quote I have heard is from a local trusted diesel mechanic: "If you think a 6.0 is a grenade, a 6.4 is what was dropped on Hiroshima."

Having owned a 6.4 PSD, I agree wholeheartedly.

That engine sounds freakin awesome!
Sounded like more than 285/515 in the parking lot!
Those little engines should be bulletproof just like the Eco D. Just another in the long lines of 3 litre V6s.

If you can always spot them in the shop, then that must mean you and your truck must spend a lot of time in a shop. :W

There's a guy I know at work and his 6.4PSD has over 300k miles. Transmission was replaced at 250k miles with the factory transmission oil in it and he replaced a idler pulley. That's it for the drive train.

As for the Lion diesel platform the original 6.7PSD internal team did not design this engine, but some of these same engineers performed the redesign to get the engine up the F150 truck standard.

That was a Navistar (nevermore) engine. This is designed and manufactured by Ford.... same as todayโ€™s 6.7!

You couldn't be more wrong.

I must be a little right!
Ford explains that the same engineering team responsible for the development of the well-regarded 6.7 litre Power Stroke also built the 3.0 litre, saying in a press announcement โ€œThe Ford truck team paid particular attention to extreme driving conditions when engineering the all-new 3.0-litre Power Stroke diesel, which features a premium mechanical engine-driven fan and dual radiator shutters for improved high temperature, high-altitude performance.โ€

Although it now wears a Power Stroke badge, the 3.0-liter V-6 has an international pedigree. Commonly referred to as the Lion engine, it was jointly developed by Ford with PSA Peugeot Citroรซn years ago and is currently used in some Land Rover products

Those were designed by Navistar. This one is "in house".

And was a decent engine until the Ford Engineers got a hold of it and tried to keep up with GM and Dodge with all their mods.

Sorry the 6.0 is Ford's nightmare to own.
Still driving mine and love it. Guess some were good. Look how many are still on the road.

My husband researched them pretty extensively as he's interested in a smaller truck for him to drive around. He works from home so no commute. He decided in the end that he doesn't trust them just yet, so now he's back to looking at 3.5 EB trucks, especially since he can get a pretty good deal on a brand new one of those versus those baby diesels.

When they get these priced decent in XLT trim and people see how well and efficiently they tow the common 5 to 8k trailer then these will be a keeper. Still only going to be a nitch truck with 5% of 1/2 ton sales but that is a lot of trucks when it comes to lost sales.

I think the guy in the video linked above had one thing wrong when he said it will take some sales from the other motors in Fords line up. Ford knows it will only keep from bleeding those sales to Ram GM & Nissan where those sales would have been lost as those people are looking for the efficiency of a small diesel. Some guys are always going to be looking to trade in the 20 mpg 10 towing for 30 mpg 15 towing.

I don't think it will take sales from the HDs either in that people either need want the HD platform and more power for their 10k plus trailer or heavy bed load or they are looking at a half ton. Its not like people are buying HDs for fuel efficiency.
