New Ram redesign

Anybody heard a timeline for the new Ram redesign release date? With all this news about the new Super Duty it would be nice to hear something from FCA. Are they going to use Aluminum? What about any new engines or output upgrades? I wish they'd start some suspense or something to perk our interest.

True, but Nissan tops them all.

Dumping, moving, whatever you want to say the fact is soon the CMEP plant will only build for RAM.

Says volumes, yes it does. I would say they are planning on building more for RAM and need the production capacity. Or it's just more efficient to build for only one user at this plant.

I think it's huge news for Cummins fans they will still be partnered thru 2019.

The moving of production of an iteration of engine from one plant to another... how does that "speak volumes"? What does it say?

You used a strong verb for the move... "dumped"... which is a somewhat sensationalizing way to describe what could be just a plant realignment for production efficiency. Are you seeing this move as something more than that?

On a different note... 2019 will be a very special year for RAM's new incarnation of the HD series with the Cummins engine. It will mark the 30th anniversary since Dodge and Cummins redefined the industry with the introduction of the 5.9L B Series turbo Diesel in Dodge pick up trucks.

I expect the timing of this milestone is not lost on the product planners who are busy working on the 2019 HD Rams right now.

Just the fact that Cummins has dumped all Freightliner production to another plant for the 2017 MY and they are now 2017MY ONLY building the 6.7 for RAM at the CMEP plant in Columbus, IN speaks volumes and they are working on the 2019 MY.

I could not get her to disclose HP and TQ numbers, she just smiled!!!

So to the people that said the 6.7 had a short life, YOU ARE WRONG!!!!!!!!

Word is that they will no longer build the 6.7 for Freightliner for the 2017 model year as they do now. It will be built at another plant, can't remember what one.

Big news is they are working on the 2019 6.7 Cummins for the RAM trucks. The Columbus facility will only be building the 6.7 for the RAM at the Cummins Columbus Facility for 2017 and beyond.

Soooo your saying the 6.7 will still be available for the lower end DP's ? There is a bunch of MH's using the 6.7 power plant mated to a Allison 2500 or 3000 lately.

All of the 6.7L engines except for the Ram are built at the North Carolina plant. All 8.9L engines are also built there.

Not true at this time. They are building for Freightliner in Columbus.

Yes. They will build them just at another plant. Columbus CMEP will build only for RAM.

I went and looked on the employee Corporate web site and it still shows 2017 and 2018? Allpar has a link showing the 2018 and 2019 release dates however. Link to Allpar

As mentioned in this thread, they pushed RAM new model releases back a year and announced that about 10 months a ago. 2019 for the HDs.

2017 for the 1500 major update and 2018 for the HD trucks. What they are is anyone's guess, we know the V6 gas is getting a redo and a bump in HP.The V8 gets a bump to 400hp and twin turbos are coming around 2018-19 for the V6 gas. The VM 3.0 diesel will also get a refresh with a bump in power for 2018.

FCA long ago released a road map that had 2017 as the preliminary year for the 1500 refresh. But since, they pushed back their plans about 1 year so far to work on releasing alfa-romeo vehicles. Who knows if they've made additional updates to that roadmap. We'd typically see mules running around 1 or 2 years prior to actual release.

The current Ram's are super nice rigs. I'd like to get a new truck in the next year or two and it will most likely be a CC pickup. I like everything about the Rams, but I'll probably lean heavily towards the Fords just because my Excursion (my first Ford ever) has hands down been the best vehicle I've ever owned. It has just shy of 200k miles and still looks great and does everything I ask of it. That said, I'm definitely not brand loyal and will be watching Ram closely. I love their interiors.
