New tires help

Hello everyone. First off let me just start for taking the time to say thank you. Every time I have a question I receive replies. Ok the family and I are making a trip to Yellowstone this summer from Ohio. My tow vehicle is a 2016 silveraldo gasser 2500, equilizer hitch and 2015 jayco 26bh (5000 lbs dry ) with original factory tires. They have already gotten me to maine , myrtle beach and too many shorter trips to count. Needless to say im probably lucky I haven't had a problem yet. I have done alot of reading but am still pretty confused on which ones to buy. I often hit 65 mph when there is little wind and no traffic so i think the st tires are out. Im not worried about saving a hundred or two I want good safe tires for myself and my family. I would love to hear what you would buy in my place. Thanks

Might want to keep a couple of your older tires as spares. When we went to Yellowstone, between two campers (in-laws went with us), we had 6 blowouts. Fortunately, we had three teenage boys who after the first two were a 7 minute pit crew. I've since learned read a little more about tires here. Hope to do better on our next long trip.
Have fun and don't miss the badlands and Mount Rushmore on the way out.

Of course those Goodyears from 2014 were the old Marathons made in China.

Current Goodyears are Endurance and made in the USA.

A friend has a 30 ft Avion TT. He put new Goodyears and aluminum rims on it when he got it in mid 2014. He used it some for trips of 300 miles or so one way, over the next couple of years, and in the summer of 2016 he made his "epic" trip to the Black Hills and worked his way down the Rockies to Durango and then back to Atlanta. He blew a tire near Ridgway, CO on US 550, and this was a determining factor in taking the long route to Durango rather than taking the "million dollar highway" He replaced the tire in Durango with a Carlisle Radial Trail HD, on the recommendation of the tire shop who said they had very good luck with them and that the Goodyears were failing "left and right".

After returning home, My friend closely inspected every inch of the Goodyears and found knots on two of them, So he replaced the other three Goodyears with matching Carlisle Radial Trail HD tires. Has since been as far north as Prince Edward Island, and a number of trips in the South East with no problems. The tires have an 80+ mph speed rating, so there is lots of margin built into them. Probably the next best thing to equipping with Light Truck tires, for those who cannot accommodate the 16 inch wheels for the LT tires.

Carlisle Radial Trail HD tire sizes, specs and part numbers.

One option in 15" LT is Good year Wrangler HT

After blowing 3 tires in their 4th year. I would go ahead and change them out. I will NOT run 4 year old tires ever again.Especially in the summer.

Too many stories like the one above , its not worth taking the risk. I probably have 10,000 on these factory tires. A good set before a BIG trip seems like the money well spent.

so along with tires what's the deal with the TPMS, my truck has them 2010 GMC. if you put them on the trailer how do you read them. does the truck have provisions for these, or do you get a separate monitor? I would like to be able to see what going on with the tires when towing down the road.

It's a separate system. The sensors replace the caps on the TT tire valve stems, and you get a monitor for your dash.

I like my Goodyear Endurance that I replaced the Trailer Kings with. Stiffer side wall and more stable. Happy so far with 4k miles on them.

I stay away from the Made in China ST bombs. I would look at something like a Michelin Defender LTX tire in a 15" which I believe your trailer takes. Basically it's a truck tire.

For that trailer I'd go with Goodyear Endurance tires....speed rating for these is 85+. U.S. made. Lots of good reviews.
