New to TC's, 3500 DRW's, and Cummins

Here is my rig, and my camper. A 1987 Western Wilderness Alpine 10.
Wet bath, AC works, fridge works on all 3 power sources, it has dual LP tanks, but only one battery. (we'll change that) The TC came with the truck, as well as a couple other additions to the package deal. My wife and I are looking forward learning about RV systems and are waist deep into cleaning and remodeling this old beast....and it has turned into a full restoration. Quite a bit of water damage on skirts and up in the bed area. Bed frame/deck needed to be completely rebuilt. Not the best manufacturing processes going on here. Also, major fiberglass work in the wet bath, since RAM has a narrower bed than Chevy or Ford, appearantly. P.O. hacked into the lower part of shower to make it fit in the 8' bed. Good thing fiberglass is easy to repair.

Anyways, here is what I have and where I am at, in the restoration, since I picked it up last month. Trying to stay organized and motivated...doing at least something on it, pretty much every day.

Are you able to do the repainrs indoors/ garage?

I did not when I performed the rebuild and it sure would have been nice to keep the TC out of the elements when it rained.

My work was only the front window area and under the OH bunk as well as the rail sides at the bottom of both edges. Still, enough work that i learned to know better that I do not want to do it again.

Was proud of myself to have seen it through to completion.

Post pics when you get the chance.

Unfortunately, I don't have the facilities to work indoors/garaged on this thing. I hope to get it done before the wet season hits.

Here is a link to my pics, so far.

Welcome aboard...

Do not be surprised as to extent of water damage once you start opening up things... it may be more than you originally thought... (been there, done that.)

keep a good attitude when surprises occur. It will be a labor of love and the sense of self satisfaction when done will give a sense of pride. If you eventually sell it, do not even think of a return on the sweat, labor frustration.

What year Ram?
(fill out sig when you get the chance.)

d3500ram,
Thanks for the reply/encouragement. I think I have seen the extent of the water damage, and have a plan of attack. Already have quite a bit in process. The demo of old luan, glue, and foam insul., is the most time consuming part. I imagine cutting new ply and gluing back together will make thing move right along.

My RAM is a 2009 Big Horn Cummins 6.7L. When we are ready to upgrade, this truck shouldn't have any problems hauling anything we want.

Oh....the pic of the black dually and camper with blue stripes is an internet pic. As you can see in other pics, mine has brown and gold stripes. Pretty faded now tho, gonna repaint...just not sure what color.

I don't have an imgur, tinypic, or any other internet picture share program. The link at the bottom of my first post will be accessible to view what pics I put in a shared folder. I will have update folders shared with new pics as I go.

Thanks for looking. I'm sure I will have questions and will love having discussions with more experienced TC owners and enthusiasts.
