New Tow vehicle needed

Since dry is really a useless number what is the GVWR? If your GVWR is around 7500 pounds, then if you can aford ot a Ford ecoboost is probably a good choice. But for the same money you could buy a 2500 gas motor. Go drive all of them. Ram seems to have the nicest interiors, and often much better prices. Fords will cost you the most, GMs offerings will fall somewhere in between.

I looked up weights. GVWR is 7500 lbs. Hitch weight is 705 lbs

I'd go HD at that size but part of that is I just like them better - you get more truck for similar money so to me they're a better value.

Hitch weight will likely be closer to 900 lbs loaded. How big is the family? How much stuff do you pack? Do you intend to upsize in the future? Any plans of traveling out west ever? Lots of factors would play into the tow vehicle choice.

Of the current crop personal choices would be an F150 3.5 Ecoboost in a half ton, a F250/350 in a gas HD or a Ram 2500/3500 in a diesel HD.

For some reason I was thinking wrong. Used to work for a company out of Pittsburgh, so was there quite often.
Two people? Like I said a 1500 would suffice, but for the same money as a f150 ecoboost you could be driving a 2500 gas motor from the other two brands. If your buying new, go test them all out in the trim level you want. Then decide what is best for you. Remember though if you look at Ford F150 ecoboost not all packages will tave towing capacity your looking for. And once you up the tow package, the price climbs too.

That doesn’t make any difference in selection of a capable TV.

I would also go with a HD truck. It will handle better and you will NOT be sorry.

I'm towing a trailer your size with a Ram 1500 and payload wise, it's maxxed out after I load tools and camping gear. I'd suggest a 2500. My 1500 has done a good job so it is acceptable, barely.
