Traded in the F150 super cab for a F350 6.2L gas engine crew cab. Total electric tow mirrors, brake controller, rear step, spray bed liner, remote start XLT package. Picking it up today, looking forward to hooking up and going.

Only have 400 miles on mine. Have not driven it in temps over 15F which is a big factor. The trip home from the dealer I averaged 12.5 but half of the trip was into a wicked head wind and my scangage was showing 100HP just to maintain 65MPH, which is the same amount of drag towing our 5th. The next day an 80 mile ride showed 13.5mpg. Then, I realized the hubs were locked in from the dealer. Put them in the auto position and went for another ride of mixed highway/gravel/town and ended up at 14.2mpg. It was 10F for that ride. I remember with my old 6 liter GM the mileage tanked when it was cold and even saw single digits at times. With the larger driveline components, the SD/HD's are affected by cold more than the 1/2 tons.

Once it warms up outside, it should be able to get 16 highway and 13-14 mixed. I figure if the towing mileage is the same as my eco on 87e10(should be able to get 9) and the highway mileage goes from 21 down to 15, it's about $500 more per year with 35% towing and 10k miles per year. Not free but not too bad.

The 150 had a 5.4 with 3.15 gears and towed our 35 foot 6400 dry, 8000 max loaded trailer like a dream. I am guessing that a 6.2 with 3.73 gears will be unbelievable. Should find out soon as the trailer needs to go into the shop now that enough snow has melted. Plan on working on the hitch when my son is home from college this week. I measured the height of the hitch on the old truck to hopefully help me get the change quick and easy.

Congratulations on your new truck.

I would be interested in hearing some mileage data highway w/wo trailer. Also engine rpms and speed on grades. How much weight are you towing
and what engine did your F150 have?

Congrats! Seems like a gasser trend is starting. What gears? I had a little MPG shock but haven't driven it in temps over 15F yet. Should be worth the peace of mind though.

Congrats Gary, you will really like that 6.2, it is a good performer, and runs very smooth. I like the sound at any rpm, just a bonus.

Your wife may now load all, even the kitchen sink!! But hey, a happy wife, makes for a happy trip!!

Enjoy the new truck,
Jerry

Congrats! Well done! You'll really love the F350 Dually. (any 350 or 3500 series dually for that matter) compared to the 150 (1500). You'll tow MUCH better!
