New Tow Vehicle

The ford zf6 standard’s reverse gear is also too tall. I don’t understand why, who is in such a hurry going in reverse? When I have my trailer on, I put it in 4 low with my hubs unlocked, so kind of a 2wd low then I can just let my clutch out and back up nice and slow.

Vehicles vary too, and you're comparing apples to oranges. You also drive too slow if you don't see 6th gear much in your 3rd Gen!
Agree reverse is too tall in the 5600 and G56 though.

My point was that you can "over gear". Taller is not always better.

The 3.55 is only available with 20" wheels or select packages. Otherwise the standard is 3.31 and there are no other gear options. Both will pull exactly the same because the tire size offsets any difference. The exception is packages like snow plow preparation that has 18" wheels which gives about a 7% increase in gearing.

My new F250 has 3.55 gear ratio. Just got back from a trip. Pulling a 6% grade was a piece of cake. Truck shifted to 5th gear and kept going.

We live and tow quite often in the mountains so when I order a truck, it's always 4.10's but is not a daily driver.
I like the 6.7 and believe you'll be sitting pretty.

My 3500 Ram/Cummins has 3:42 and it will pull the hitch off my rig weighing in at around 11,500.

Friend has the same truck you are looking at and pulls a Montana at 12,500 and smiles every time!

When towing, just lock out 6th gear if its hunting any, and enjoy the ride.

And when running empty (especially on the highway) enjoy the good fuel mileage why she just purrs along.

Wow. A 3.55 limited slip is a add on upgrade option on my 2019 F150, even with the regular towing package.
