New truck pricing

Looking for a new truck but there's not much to choose from. I want a 3/4 ton GMC Denali or Chevy High Country 4WD with diesel. Has any one purchased a new one lately with the shortage of new ones? Has anyone ordered one? Can I expect to get anything off the MSRP? From a monetary standpoint would I be better off to order exactly what I want or take what I can find. I'm in no hurry so I could wait on the ordered one.
With all the trucks sitting in Flint,MI that they can't complete due to shortages of one thing or another do you think they will eventually have to negotiate to get rid of the sitting 2021 models as the new model year approaches?

With GM and Ford teetering, this might be the end of one of them.

Teetering based on what metric? There is a temporary cash flow issue, but they are selling everything they can sell.

Sure there is a negotiation, they ask you how much over sticker you’re willing to pay.

Always negotiate, even if the salesman says "No negotiation." You can always make an offer. They either reject it or sell a truck.

Depends on what the current offers are at the time you take delivery.

Smooth ride - that's the beauty of the GM trucks - IFS.

When this backlog of trucks hits the lots, I don't think the dealers are going to be offering big discounts. That won't happen until the supply is stable for some time and is proven to meet or exceed demand.

As for Ram trucks I sure as heck wouldn't want one that's been setting on some desert lot in Mexico and having to finish the job in the desert heat.

If you build one on their website it will lead you to available on the lots. Not much there but I'm looking to order a new 2500 gas next year,so I'm keeping an eye on things too. I'm hoping the gas will get the ten speed for 2023.

The HD pickup trucks are riding noticeably better …. I believe a 1500 rides considerably nicer than a 3500 but I don’t think you’d notice a difference going from a 2500 to a 3500 SRW. I run 80 psi air pressure front and back loaded and empty and I’m comfortable but I’m not used to riding in a car.

^^^^ Yup order a new 2022 GMC 3500. The 2500 is pretty much identical other than it has no overload springs and therefore can only hand about half the payload.

what is the ride like in a 3500? Unloaded? Don't want to spend $80G and get beat to death while driving 😉

Its not a single chip shortage - its a shortage of chips coming from China. It's effecting all industries that manufacture something with semiconductors in them. I work in an industry not related to car manufacturing and lead times are 120 days to 6 months or longer. Just heard a generator on a project is not supposed to arrive until mid 2022...

Does the chip shortage affect diesel trucks? I see those on the lots, few gas ones. What does that particular chip control?

My local dealer has five 3/4 tons. All LTZs, 4 wheelers and….white. No diesels. All are crew cabs. Order one exactly as you choose. And six 1500s. In de old days they would have 30 1500s.
