Newbie question

[img][/img]

Hey guys. Just bought this trailer and I haven't seen this switch before in my old trailer and I'm having a rough time figuring out what's it's for. It's just next to the breaker box. It took me forever to figure out what the battery kill switch was but now i don't know what this switch is. Any ideas? Thanks for your time

Unless I'm wrong, the OP is not talking about the red key and red outlet with the red cap on it. That clearly looks like a battery disconnect unless somebody installed it for some other use.

What I believe the OP is referring to is the BLACK SWITCH in the BLACK HOUSING. Could be anything but these are commonly water heater switches, but those typically have the no-light-fault LED light next to them so you know the water heater did not light. In that case, it could be anything.

The OP can verify that if he finds another switch for the water heater, normally mounted higher than the one shown. In that case, could be anything.
  • What is inside the red plastic cap on the wall below the key? I suspect it opens to reveal the keyhole for the battery disconnect switch. It would make sense that's why the red key is hanging right above it.
  • Sorry about the picture issue. Ya I figured out the battery disconnect but just can't figure out the switch. We are going on a week long trip soon and it will be dry camping so I just want to make sure I understand everything first. I tried looking in the manual with no luck.
  • On my Cedar Creek that key is used as a battery disconnect switch key. When plugged into shore power you turn it to off so the refrigerator runs on ac and not the inverter.
  • The picture looks like a battery disconnect switch I just bought and installed in our 5th wheel. When it's in the on position the key can't be removed on the one I have.If you Google battery disconnect switch you can probably find the identical one you have.
