Office area?

I've seen many who have customized the dinnette and turned it into a combination desk and two person eating area. Or just a desk area.

My Everest FW has a small built-in desk with storage above it. It's pretty handy.

You indicated you were thinking of something on the smaller side. A small toy hauler would essentially give you a "room" to set up as needed. There are also some TTs that have a bedroom/den/office area, usually in the rear, but they tend to be larger size. Many toy haulers have a bed or sofa that can be lowered if you need it or not. Might want to check those out.

We pulled out the sofa from our Flagstaff, added some file drawers and space for printer. We use the dining table for our heavy duty computer work.

I've seen several full-time rigs with office arrangements, all involved removing a sofa, dining table or bunks.

All but one used laptops. One fellow needed a 28" monitor, and a high powered desktop for photo / film editing.

Seen a few posts, and had the thought of taking out a bunk and puting in a desk. The show stopper for me seemed to be that most of the lower bunks are on top of an outside storage area or a compartment with water pump and heater and/or furnace. The problem is an area for the chair and your legs to fit under the desk top.

Under one of our bunks is a storage area. The top could be taken off and a desk top made to fit in the area.
We have a bunkroom with four bunks and three closets. Unless we have visiting grandchildren the bunks are used for storage. The whole room could be made into an office.

IN 2010 we was very interested in the JAYCO X213 trailer. We was looking at re-doing the bunk room area for a small storage area just inside the outside door and adding a L-Shape Desk with hutch in the remaining room after removing the bunk beds... This would be for our office and Ham Radio equipment complete with dual 24-inch monitors and office printer etc... I am presently using a similar setup in our house with this style L-shaped Desk with hutch kit from Office Depot..

I was looking at this desk with hutch arrangement. Of course the L-desk would have to be cut down to fit the depth of the bunk room.



With the influx of the more recent toy haulers you should be able to design almost any office area you can think of...

I have seen some layouts for office desk for computer in some high end trailers etc but always on a small scale. If you really want a working office I think you will have to build it yourself. It will also have to support tie downs and railing to keep things from falling into the floor when moving down the road... Plenty of material available from LOWES to do this with... VELCRO works great...


In the end we never went forward with this idea and still running the roads in our off-road POPUP setup. My office computer setup is on a flat table top with my laptop and Radio Support items all sitting behind our wrap around seating and unused tent bed area. My LAPTOP plugs into a DOCKING STATION concept will allows all of the items to be easily connected. You probably don't see many 24-inch dual monitors in an OFF-ROAD POPUP haha...

Everything has its place but all works for me sitting up on a mtn camp site sitting in the George Washington Natl Forest back forest road area on the WVA-VA wooded border state line hehe...

My wife takes over the Dinette area during the day.
Then clears it off before dinner.
Sort of forces her to be organized and work "regular" hours when we're camping.

But all she really needs is the computer, a portable file box, printer and the internet connection.

I have been looking at bunkhouse floorplans that I can remove the bunks and put in desk or cabinet combo to use for crafts and a little office equip. I am not sure if you are looking for new or used, but I am figuring a slightly lower cost used unit and a few extra dollars to make the mods for me.

I've seen people start with a bunkhouse model and modify that area to fit a lightweight desk or work table.
