My SRW front end was lighter (4500 lbs) and my 18" LRE tires were rated over 3500 lbs each before I swapped to my 19.5 LRH 4800+ lb rated tires. I had much more leeway in front tire pressure than what reserve you have remaining. My current DRW is just as heavy up front as yours, but the LRG 19.5's rated around 4000 lbs again give me more allowance for pressure changes.
I never had tire edge wear issues, but both my trucks use a different front suspension than your 3500's. Both my trucks had upgraded front spring rates due to the options I chose, so ride quality was affected more by these tire pressure adjustments.
BTW: My SRW originally came with the same size 17's you are running. They wore quickly, but inexpensive OEM take offs from the dealer made it worthwhile to go through two of those sets. Later, I found the higher rated 18" take offs that were an option for my SRW I had not originally chosen at purchase.
