olympic peninsula campgrounds suggestions

We are heading up to Port Townsend and olympic peninsula for a couple weeks. We have two nights reservations for Fort Worden but nothing after that. Any ideas?

Yes Neah Bay--maybe not so much for camping but GO there.

There is campground at the mouth of Elwa River just west of Port Angeles. Another place to check out is the campground right in La Push on the water.

There is a very nice County campground at the base of the Dungeness Spit. It is called the Voice of America. You can hike the spit (7 miles each way) and there is a 100 + acre open area next to the park. There are no hook-ups but there are showers. You camp near the bluff so you have a nice view of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Vancouver Island.

Sol Duc Hot Springs just west of Port Angeles is my favorite place to go up there.

Sol Duc Hot Springs

Their web page shows a lot about the cabins, but not much about the RV sites. Reservations are required. Power/water only, no dump. You have to go into the reservation system of just call them for info on the RV spots. There's like 16 of them as I recall.

Follow Hwy101 west along Crescent Lake, immediately after the end of the lake, you go up a hill, and turn left. It's well marked. It's a National Forest park, so paid entry is required right after you turn. The follow the little 2-lane road for about 20 miles up into the mountains and you're there.

If you don't need hookups, Heart of the Hills and Sol Duc are both really great.

The campground on the Hoh is very nice. Duckabush is good too.
