I was wondering if anyone has ever done this and if it's safe? I ask because if I ever stay in a Walmart parking lot and its' late to save time and keep the noise down it would be nice to just crawl in and sleep.

No problem with it at all. Why would you think it's not safe?

What's unsafe is sleeping in the camper with the roof UP. There's always that slim chance that the lift mechanism could collapse and drop the roof on you while you're sleeping in the cabover.

It might be a little cramped, and unless you're under 5' tall you can't walk anywhere near upright, but if you can stand sleeping on the dinette bed, you're golden.

Putting 10-ply tires on half ton trucks since aught-four.

My times, with my old FourWheel and no longer new Outfitter. But only when it was REALLY cold.
And NO -- not in the cabover area, on the bench seats which convert to a reasonable size bed.

Good idea. I slept through a wind storm in the desert one winter in a tent. The wind was over 60 mph. I just took the poles out and flattened the tent and went back to sleep.

If you have a foldup counter, some have a switch that turns on electric and water pump capabilities when you lift the top and flip up the countertop.

I would worry about ventilation, getting enough fresh air if it is all closed up. That would depend on your model.

Yep,

Also recommended for extreme windy or cold conditions.

Just don't plan on accessing cabover storage or using the stove with the top down.

For stealth camping, bring in the steps and use a flashlight.

Yes in both a rest area off the interstate and in a severe storm with trees and branches dropping around me. Just remember not to stand up and stretch without stepping outside.
