I'm in the market for a lighter TT. Can anyone tell me which is a better TT, the Passport or Apex? Any owner experience would be appreciated. Thanks.

I just put a deposit down on a 2015 Passport 2810BH. Both the Apex and Passport had things we liked. It was a toss up.

Right now I like both the Passport 2810BH and Apex 288BHS (or 28LE). Both seem to have things I like. The layout's are slightly different. The slide mechanism seems to be different on both. One is cable and the other zig zags. I need to research the slide mechanisms.

Took my 2016 Apex to the CAT Scales today, Full load of fuel, camper loaded with our normal gear less food and clothes, me and wife in truck(left the dogs at home but total all three come in about 85 lbs)
Here are numbers:
Steer axle 3140 lb
Drive axle 3240 lb
Trailer axle 5060 lb
Gross weight 11440 lb
Thanks for the info. Did you get the weight on your truck before? Also, did you get the hitch weight?

My truck was 5780 mostly empty.

I have a new Passport Elite 23RB and love it. Only a couple months old, but it is the best layout I could find. No problems so far.

Can't speak to the quality of the Apex.

I was about to purchase an Apex 28LE this weekend. Talked about price, PDI, and everything with the salesperson. I driver over on Saturday to look at it, but opted out. She failed to tell me that it was side swiped (I think by a fork lift). It was in the back repair area. It wasn't bad, but She couldn't have sold it to me. Besides that, I wasn't impressed with internal build quality. I saw a couple of screws on the ground when I walked in. You could see how the laminate on the cabinets split and peeled away as the screws were inserted. I'm probably expecting something to be built like a car. We looked at a Passport right after the Apex. My wife thought the internal build quality was the same. I realize that things will need to be fixed over time, but I thought buying new would reduce that for a few years.

mfifield01; It was a 70 mile drive from the dealer back to the house and the 250RLS towed much better than the 214RB we had. All the stuff from the old camper was in it or in the bed of the truck. Drove at 55mph (never faster when towing) and hardly knew it was behind me. We are really impressed with the quality compaired to the 2012 model. The layout is very roomy and tons of storage. The dry wt listed as 5072.
If you ever get your setup to the scale, let me know what everything weighs. I took my mostly empty truck to the scale on Tuesday (5780 lbs).

If you ever think there is a possibility you may have a leak, then you without a doubt want the azdel. If you are going to be scrupulous/compulsive about checking and fixing sealants, then it won't make a difference.

We pick up a new 2016 Apex 250rls tomorrow. Sold our 2012 Apex 214rb which we enjoyed for nearly three years. The 250 has a little more room. Had the fridge die on us awhile back but other than that no major issues. Like the Apex line very much. Have looked at the Passport line both in 2012 and just recently, the Apex was more our style.
I have almost the same TV (2013 Ram Lone Star). I know it will tow fine, I'm just worried about GVWR. Let me know how well it works out. I've been looking at the Apex 28LE or 288BHS, which is about 200 lbs less than the 250rls.

From what I've read, it seems that both the Passport and Apex line of trailers are a good comparison. Both seem to be of high quality. Now the decision would be on size of trailer. I want to keep the hitch weight down.
