Plumbing Dutchman 190 QB

My BIL tried to winterize his new to him TT, only able to get RV antifreeze to the cold side of any faucet? Tried to blow it out with air and no air will enter through the city water connection?

We cannot find a valve that turns off the city water connection, cannot understand why this will not work. He has not used the city water connection for water either.

The two times he has used this TT he used the water in the holding tank and he is sure that the hot water side worked then?

I do not understand any of this, hopefully someone has a solution, thanks - Dale
  • The hot water faucet issue is more than likely because the water heater has not been bypassed. The antifreeze is going into the hot water tank and not just the hot water lines.
  • The hot water tank is by-passed, there is nothing going into the hot water tank, also there is no air from the air compressor is entering the trailer? not the cold or the hot, very confusing.

Also the plug is still out of the hot water heater.
  • Not sure of your BILs location, but it could be that he has some frozen pipes. Even though he didn't use the city water, the water from pump would enter line right up to the one way city valve.

  • If he has the 3 valve bypass system, its possible that only one or two of the bypass system have be turned, the centre one still closed. This would prevent water/antifreeze from entering the hot water tank, but would also prevent it from entering the hot water lines.
Also for air to enter the water system, at least one tap or low point drain must be opened to let the incoming air to push the water out. (one tap or valve at a time).

  • Being froze seems logical, we have been in the low teens with the highs between 45/50f. BIL with start the heater and see if that changes anything, I just never thought that about the system being frozen even though it has been warmer most of the day.

    Thanks for the help.
  • Thanks all, it was froze. BIL ran the heater over night and this morning he was able to finish the winterizing.

Just a couple of slow learners!

Thanks for posting the resolve! Slow learning...no problem, we all need to learn, even slowly.
