Potable Water coming out city water connection

Hello,

First thanks for reading the post, and any responses that are provided. I decided to purchase a used travel trailer yesterday for my family to use. It is a 2004 Wildwood LE, great trailer, no leaks, etc. I am completely new to this world, and wanted to test both the city water connection and potable water. The city water connection worked great, minus needed to replace a gasket in the female end (done), water came out all locations in the trailer, toliet worked, etc. When I disconnected the hose, all the water that had been going in, came pouring out the connection to the trailer. Is this suppose to happen?

I then filled up the potable water with a few gallons, and went to turn the pump on in the trailer, when I did this, all the water shot out the city water connection. How do I prevent this from happening? Is this common?

I guessed that the city water connection should have a "plug"? Is this true, is it the fix for the potable water?

I am hoping I don't have a bigger issue on my hands.

After loosing a half tank of fresh water to a leaking check valve I took the the cheap valve out and just put in a hose connection with a manual valve. No more leakage when on the pump. Only drawback is if we lose park water I have to go out and close the valve before I start the pump - minor inconvenience.

Even after you get it fixed my little back flow check valve always dripped a little when I'm using the pump anyway. I just bought a plug to turn in there. This also helps keep the connection clean when you are traveling.

as mentioned above the little back flow valve is stuck and please do not get real physical with it or you will break it. if you can not get it to turn off then you may want to replace it. If memory serves me right there are about four or five different replacement valves so remove the old one and take it with you to the RV dealer so you can get the right one or you will just have to go home and get it. save yourself a trip.

as stated, either replace that back flow prevention or screw in a plug.
the valve may just be stuck and perhaps a little poking and prodding will loosen it.

You have a faulty check valve (one way valve on schematic)... Water is only supposed to go in one direction from the 12v pump to the water outlets in the camper...or from city water connection to the water outlets...a faulty check valve will exhibit itself as the problem that you're encountering.

If you look in the city water connection there is an in line check valve that is suppose to stop water from coming out..It may just be misaligned...Mine broke so I just used a plug
