Power converter/electrical problem

I own a 96 Coachman Catalina Lite 249QB. I am not able to get my batteries to power anything. I've charged them up and the 30A fuse on the front of the trailer lights up when I hook them up. The battery charger shows a full charge on both batteries. Even if the batteries were bad They've got enough charge in them that I would think I would get aflicker of power on something. Problem is....I'm not getting power to anything else. Any ideas? When I plug the camper in to shore electrical everything works fine. I'm stumped.

Thanks for the ideas in advance.
  • Check voltage at the battery (or test light) and work your way back to the fuse panel. Eventually you will find a device, connection or switch that is not conducting the 12v. Clean, repair or replace that item.
  • The indicator may also be on the battery side of a circuit breaker or fuse. Make sure you test for power on the coach side.
  • Do you have polarity correct? White-negative/ground, black-positive.

Did you check the fuses in the converter/power center?

Oftentimes when a fuse socket lights up it indicates the fuse is bad.
  • Look for a another fuse or circuit adjacent to the the junction box for the trailer ambilical cord.
Look for battery main fuse in the SC power distribution panel adjacent to the 120 volt AC circuit breakers. Fuses normally behind small metal deadfront held in place by thumb screw.
