Pro Pride 1400 hitch - need help

Hello everyone, I need any of your professional experience regarding to use the Pro Pride hitch please. One and half month ago the RV dealer has installed this PP hitch in my brand new trailer. 5 times I've connected w/out any problem and spent about 20-25 min. for each connection, but yesterday was the horrible day for me.I spent about 3 hours ander the sun and the temperature of 95F. Point is that, the main hitch head changed the angle to down (will try to attach photos) and I couldn't to do anything to move the head up. I've adjusted the distribution bars, but everything was the same - the hitch bar stinger couldn't come in. I called to Sean (ProPride), sent a photos and he said "the only thing you'll need to use a bottle jack, get the hitch head up to level and you'll be able to back right in." Finally I have connected, but still DON'T understanding: 1. What happened with my hitch head and how can I fix this problem. As far as I understood this head's adjusting with the lift jack is abnormal and what should I request from dealer to fix this problem?

2. Yoke of my hitch is very flexible, not stable, playing and changing the angle during the connection. What should I do to stabilise the hitch head and not allowed to change angle?

3. Also hitch head every time change angle from left to right and vice versa as well and not stable in one position (playing). Should I use the distribution bars to handle the hitch head?

4. Should I take the lift jack in each travel!?? It's very heavy unit and extra weight for my truck.
Please help me with your proffesional advice. We are staying now in camping and I didn't disconnect truck from the trailers hitch, since I'm very afraid to get this problems once again. After 4th of July Holiday will go to dealer. I greatly appreciate in advance your help and support. Best regards, Leonid

Good afternoon everyone,
Again I'm appealing to you for help and advice. Unfortunately I'm still have a LOT of troubles getting hitched my PP 1400. The same situation like started 3 (!) month ago - the stinger of the hitch bar would start to slide in, but get hung up. The Yoke was adjusted and is parallel to the A-frame, but hitch head is still tilted down and does not allow the stinger to smoothly enter to the head (please see attached photos). The space between the Yoke and A-frame is 3/4 in, but Sean said that is OK, since I have the trailer's inverted coupler. Last Friday in the dealership we spent more than 2, 5 hours for connection. The engineers of the RV dealer said that it seems as if the hitch head does not work correctly and does not keep the horizontal level. Per Sean recommendation and due to the design of my trailer I'm using the LCI's Straptek Weight Tension Technology Kit instead of the 3P weight distribution jack (please see my previous photos) and it should be no tension during the hung up. However I and the RV dealer's staff were able to connect only after replacement the hitchโ€™s cover with a yellow plate (from the adapter set), which allowed us to fix the head from movement and use the 2 tons jack to lift/support the head.
At the end of September we set off on a long trip with numerous camping parking and disconnects truck from the PP hitch, and I just do not know how I can use the PP hitch it in this condition. PLEASE, may be someone can help me and send your recommendation? Please HELP!!! Thank you in advance for your time and support.
Best regards, LS

Hello everyone,

I decided to ask you for advice, since I'm sure that your experience in setting up and using ProPride hitch is more significant than mine. Finally my RV dealer service dep., who installed my PP hitch in April, has adjusted the Yoke assembly and hitch head. They still working with trailer, thet's why I did a few photos yesterday and will pick-up the trailer only next Friday. I know that according to the installation manual, the Yoke should be approximately 1-2" bellow of the trailer's A-frame. However their set-up gap less than 1". I will attach a few photos below and please ask you to let me know if should I request to readjust this gap regarding the manual requirements, or maybe better to do it myself? Thank you in advance for your time, support and attention. Best regards, LS

A short update as promised. In July 5th forwarded trailer to the dealership for service according to the many other issues. This is my 3rd new trailer for last 20 years, so poor quality and culture of production during first year are not surprise for anyone. They will keep my trailer at least until end of Augustโ€ฆ therefore at this point cannot do anything with PP hitch, but decided to check up the correctness of the hitch bar assembly. According to the PP โ€œInstallation and Operation Instructionโ€ (page 6) the dealer has set-up my โ€œHitch Bar receiver endโ€ with Slide Pates DOWN and Iโ€™m asking your help and assistance to properly understand p. โ€œCโ€ and p. โ€œDโ€ page 6 of the Installation instruction. Iโ€™ve attached a few photos below with the measure numbers of my TV and TT, but CANNOT understand the difference between the โ€œCโ€ and โ€œDโ€, because both points are expressing the same sense, as far I understood. So finally, how should I set-up my โ€œHitch bar receiver endโ€ with the slide plates UP or DOWN? Could you send to me your professional advice please? I asked Sean, but he said:โ€ The plates up or down only determine the offset you need to get the trailer to tow level.โ€
Thank you in advance for your time, support and attention.

I had to spend a fair amount of time working out how to get the jacks mounted in the same area as the gas tanks. For yours, I can see how it would be so much harder. Nice that Sean had the alternative for you.

If he says 50lbs, then there you go! I wouldn't second guess his specs.
Did he offer any opinions as to your problems? Are we on the right track about re-aligning the hitch head using the yoke bolts?

Good morning everyone,
As I promised, I'm forwarding to you the update which I've received from Sean Woodruff according to the the torgue of the Yoke side bolts (pivot and slot). Sean said:"Yoke side bolts to 50 ft-lbs." This is the manufacturer requirements for four very significant bolts. What is your professional user's opinion? Please respond. Thank you and have a good work day!
