- daily_doubleExplorerThanks for the tip on propane in Wichita Ks.
- WileECoyoteSrExplorerMy Garmin RV760LMT GPS has an RV services selection and it shows Propane filling locations.
One that is not listed here in the Wichita, Kansas area that should be is "PROPANE CENTRAL" between Kechi and Benton, Kansas on Hwy 254. Fast, friendly service at their main terminal and plenty of room to turn around our RV pulling a Toad.
We highly recommend PROPANE CENTRAL if you are in the Wichita, Kansas area. - JimK-NYExplorer II

Does anyone know of an app to locate towns that have a place to fill propane bottles? Exchanging them is a monumental rip off.
You don't need an app they are all around. where ever you are at. :C
1. Almost all CG's have a propane tank fill station and refill propane bottles and/or MH's. CG's state if they do in their ad/website. So if you have a good CG app that's all you'll need.
2. Do a search for 'residential' propane companies in the area. ALL of them have a drive up to fill bottles and/or MH's if the area its in will fit a MH.
3. ALL RV dealerships have propane fill stations.
4. Most Ace Hardware's have propane fill stations.
5. ALL trucks stops big or small have propane fill stations.
And yes I HAVE used all of the above to fill a propane bottle and a MH.
The situation where I live and most of the places I have visited is a bit different.
1. It is rare to find any campgrounds with propane. Some RV parks have exchange stations but even that is uncommon.
3. My RV dealer does not carry propane. I occasionally visit Camping World stores and have never seen one with propane.
4. The ACE hardware stores in my area removed the propane filling stations a couple of years ago.
5. I sometimes stop at Flying J/Pilot truck stops or similar places and cannot remember ever seeing one with propane. I did a quick search in my area and none have propane refills or exchanges.
I don't know where you live but your experience does not match my location. I also travel across country and camp several months of the year. The places I have visited don't seem to match your location either.
In addition to the problem of finding refill stations, I have had horrible issues with the exchange stations. A minor issue is the high price. I had to give up on the local Home Depot. ALL of the tanks were expired and none re certified. This means no place can legally refill them when I travel. I also had leaks on 2 of 3 tanks that I tried to use for my garage heater.
Where do you live?
Do you live in a state that has completely banned propane? :B :H
Never heard of such a thing as no propane anywhere!
I full time and I have yet to pull into a Flying J that did not have a propane lane.
What SIZE propane bottles are you trying to get filled?
I did a search on Flying J/Pilot truck stops. You are correct. Quite a few have propane refill stations.... 198/684, 28%. Next time I am traveling and need propane I will think about that choice. I know many Ace hardware stores and U haul stores have propane. Sometimes even a Costco will have a refill. Nationwide, I am finding fewer and fewer places. I suspect regulations and permit fees are the culprit since my area is especially hard hit and everything is regulated and taxed. It also takes time for a refill and I would guess an exchange makes more money at a lower cost. - msiminoffExplorer II

In which Allstays app would that be? There are many.
In my original post, I stated; Allstays Camp & RV.
I s'pose it's worth noting that I am using version 5.2.

You can try it, but all that does is send me to places like Ferrelgas (local propane distributors.) There are no fewer than 5 independent stations in this area.
I would try Google Maps and search on "propane refill"
What does it do in your area?
Google isn't perfect - it can only report on what it can identify. In my area, I get multiple Ferrelgas, AmeriGas, U-Haul locations and several local suppliers. - Bob__BExplorerA lot of places that fill propane tanks want to charge based on the tank size, not the amount put in the tank.....So, if you just want to top off a tank before going on a trip, they want to charge for the full tank amount.
The U-haul and Tractor Supply stores in my area charge per gallon filled rate.
