Pulling 30' TT

I am going to upgrade to a larger RV. I have been towing a 24' Rockwell Mini Lite with my GMC 1500 for the last 2 summers. I travel about 8 to 10,000 miles a summer, staying out about 5 months. It was just getting to cramped. So I went out and bought a GMC 2500HD with the intention of getting a 30' 5th wheel to go with it. Just got back from RV show and after really looking at 5th wheels I don't like them as much as I thought I would. They are to tall for my storage place and the bedroom felt closed in. I then looked at 30' travel trailers and found a couple I really loved.

My question is how much harder will it be to pull a 30' TT as apposed to a 24'. I used equalizer sway bars on my 24 footer.

I'm with Steeljag. We have a 35'tt that we tow with our 2500 Suburban. Just got back from 2,700 round trip from WI to FL and it was a breeze. We started with a 21', and I will say that I am more intentional now about planning ahead for fuel and other stops (that length and turn-angle excludes a lot of stations), but otherwise it soars down the road just as easily as the 21' ever did.

Harder ? Not at all ! Your truck & TT combo should work very well together ! Backing, and fuel stations will require a little more room, but nothing you can't handle!

Going with a TT will continue to allow for bed space for bikes, grills, wood, etc. and also allow for anything wet that you don't want to transport in the truck or TT !

No worries with the extra few feet ! Get out there and enjoy it !

I would continue with a good quality WDH !

A 30' TT should be a great match for that truck, and it'll likely pull better than your last combo did even though it's heavier. HD trucks are a nice step up in towing performance compared to half tons. Especially if it's a diesel.
