My experience with Nissan is that they DO NOT stand behind their product. I had a problem with an Altima involving motor mounts going bad. I had 2 dealers tell me that it was covered by warranty. Corporate Nissan said it wasn't covered. They then spent 3 months dodging my phone calls. I would leave them numbers and times at which to reach me. Typically they would leave a message at home during even though I had given them a number and time period to reach me at work. This happened multiple times.
Contrast this with my experience with Ford. My Explorer has unfortunately had more problems than I would ideally expect. Ford has been fantastic about standing behind their product! Kudos to Tom Peck Ford in Huntley, IL. So on one hand you have a company who works hard to satisfy their customers. On the other you have you have Nissan, who worked hard at not standing behind their warranty.
I will admit to ignorance in that I bought a Nissan. I guarantee that I will never repeat that mistake. I'll also retract the comment about using a Nissan to create an artificial reef. That's a crappy thing to do to a fish.
