Quick Winterizing Question

I dump antifreeze down the sinks and put some in the toilet. I consider it cheap protection at a few $/gallon.

In the course of adding pink to the toilet some of it is inevitably going to end up in the black water tank and work it's way down to the waste gate. Likewise any pink added to the sinks & shower is going to fill the traps, any excess will drain into the grey water tank and work it's way over to that waste gate, a good thing in both cases. Fresh water holding tank - just empty it as best you can and forgetaboutit. ;)

For me....

Fill then empty.... Repeat. End up with an empty tank that is as clean as possible.

I then add pink stuff to all the traps (knowing, as others have said, that some of the pink stuff will end up in tank). I add a little extra down the toilet into the black water tank. Kinda like you would during normal use with water (maybe blue stuff) but I use anti-freeze (no blue stuff) to keep the bottom of the tank from drying out......just in case there is some "accumalation" in there.

A little water in the bottom of a large tank will not hurt anything. I pump antifreeze thru my lines and some goes down the drains into the emptied tanks. It will be somewhat diluted but will not cause problems in freezing temps due to the small amount.

The winterizing is to prevent water freezing, expanding, and rupturing pipes and fittings. An empty tank won't freeze.

After I run the pink stuff out the faucets and before I pour more into the traps, I empty the holding tanks.

AF in the tanks will provide liquid on the waste valves and keep them lubed up over the winter time, and not dry out.

When you are blowing out the lines don't forget to step on the commode flush peddle. I almost forgot to do that this year. If you have a black tank cleaner line be sure to blow it down.

And if you have a pushbutton pullout sprayer on the kitchen sink be sure to run AF thru both the spray and stream sections.
