Racking up the miles.







I changed the oil, filter and rotated the tires yesterday.
I do this every 5000 miles. I'm guessing that I've changed the oil somewhere around 38 times. :E

It has only been in the shop once and that was at 180,000 miles for a new fuel pump. Other than that only a few light bulbs.




I checked the factory brake pads while I had the tires off and there's still plenty of pad.

This has been an excellent truck.

I was always a Ford man but for a few reasons I bought a Chevy.
I had a hard time finding a regular cab pickup.

I'd call and ask if they had one n the lot and the standard reply was, "why do you want a regular cab?"

My response was, "Well I guess you don't. Have a nice day". click

    Changed oil and lub'd it every 5000 miles, for 214,000 before trading my GMC 2500 in on a 2015 2500 - never needed oil between changes...

    No regrets, would have kept it longer, but small things began to wear, and we were heading out on a five-month cross-country. Wife felt uncomfortable with that many miles. Love the 2015 too, and the upgrade to six-speed and 4:10. Changed brakes ONCE in all that time, but they were coming due again. That's a lot of comfortable miles. Changed tires about four times in that many miles and a couple batteries.

    Take care of your vehicle, it will take care of your travels :):)

    The GM LS engines are about as bulletproof as they come. I have a 2001 Yukon with the 5.3L engine with 267k kms or just over 160k miles and it runs like new too. :C I think the new 6.6L engine will be pretty bulletproof too.

    Modern vehicles last when you take care of them.
    Ford 7.3 the same. 175 k miles.
    Brakes at 140k. Had the front end rebuilt at 160 k miles.
    Just drive it.

    If I went by the truck's indicator I could go 10,000 between oil changes or 20,000 as per the oil recommendations.

    I bought this one when t was two years old with 20,000 miles on it.

    I keep my vehicles until there's nothing left of them so I change the oil and filter every 5000.

    It still doesn't use any between oil changes.

    The shop isn't mine. :( I just have access to it when ever I need it.

    That's all they use. 100% salt.

    We have The Great Salt Lake, Bonneville Salt Flats and we are the home of Morton Salt. LOL

    I don't know why the new 6.6 wont be a great engine, even in its first year out.

    GM didn't reinvent a new engine, they just upgraded a already great engine.

    I do quite a bit of hwy driving however I'm on my 6th set of tires.

    The past 180,000 miles for me meant 12 oil changes and I'm just about ready for my 4th truck. It seems to me that unless you're going to keep a truck for more than 10 years you might just as well trade it every 2 or 3. Nice shop!

    Does Utah use a lot of salt / road de-icer in the winter? Asking due to the severity of rust on the brake components.
