Braking Module? youtube that...I think its that small black box that sits above the spare tire attached to the frame. If so I would ebay that part and get it for a fraction of the cost. I cant recall but the guy on you tube replaced himself for under 100.00. It may cost more but nowhere near what the dealer is quoting you....Check into it! and let us know

I looked up above the spare and the only box was an emission vent.
There is a major junction block where the main harness comes back and all the other harnesses for backup sensors, license plate lights, trailer plug, tail lights, etc. plug into.

Yep that main box is the one I'm thinking that they are going to replace but I could be wrong. Thanks for all the updated info, I am keeping my eye on this topic since it is such a common issue on these trucks. Let us know what the replace and get that old part and take a pic if you can so we can see what was replaced. Thanks again.

towing 10,000lb bumper pull with 2011 GMC CCSB 4WD 6.0/6sp/3.73

mpg depends on speed/wind and hills. I generally tow 58-60mph and get 8.5mpg, faster 65mph drops 1mpg down to 7.5mpg or so.

I should have ordered it with 4.10 gears, the speeds I tow would have a few more rpms and reduce the downshifting some. I have plenty of power, just like to get decent mileage.

Just finished a tow from IL to MT with truck and fiver in my sig. Truck said I averaged around 8 mpg. I like truck except for integrated brake controller. Put a Prodigy P3 on it that Made a difference. There are other threads on this issue.

There was a pretty long post on duramax forum that somebody posted about the tie in of the different modules that all effect the braking.
Pretty interesting about how one little thing can throw everything out of wack.
Trailer braking, regular braking, cruise control, ABS, speed sensors on the wheels, etc.

I looked up under my dash after reading the post and there is a brake switch that I read about in other searches, but also a large solenoid also attached to the pedal. The post also mention another brake box behind a kick panel I believe.
Once they get the part and the work done I should be able to post more specific info such as actual part# etc.

No issues except my DIC started with a "service trailer brake" warning the other day and now I have no trailer brakes.
Goes to the dealer Monday to find what is wrong.

I had this same issue once just for a min and have never seen it come back. I did google it a while back, even found a youtube video on it. Looks like a simple fix. Could also be water that leaked into the connections. I have never had the light show back up or any issues with it stopping my trailer so keep us in the loop of what the dealer says. Youtube it and u will see that there is a small box behind the spare tire that gets replaced and a fuse in the engine are fuse block. Hope this helps.

Ouch!
Came back from the dealer.
There is some sort of braking module that is bad.
It does cause codes to pop up so it was easy for them to diagnose.
Problem is GM has it on backorder so I have to wait.
Cost will be about $1000 to fix and they said they need my truck for the better part of the day.

2016 Ram CC, 6.4 Hemi, 4WD,373 gears.
Trailer now is a Cougar fifth wheel weighing 10,300 max.
This combination seems to be vey good! We just towed from Bend, OR. to Sacramento, CA and then back to Coeur d Alene, ID. Good results.
EVIC showed 10.2 average, at about 60 mph. I didn't hand calculate mpg.
We're really happy with the combination so far, other then the truck sits high enough where we have had to make trailer height adjustments.

I am enjoying reading all of these gasser posts. Mine was a 99 V10 CC Dually F350. It was a strong truck...I didn't like the seats as they were not very comfy for family travel. I would like another gas hd truck in the future...probably a F250 Lariet. Thanks! Jeremiah

The couple times we checked the Fords out at the auto show we were never impressed with the seats either. Felt like a park bench they were so firm. Just wasn't for us. Though we haven't looked at the Fords in about 10yrs.

Has been a very good read!!! And good to see IB on the site!!!

That would be nice.
I also read on one of the truck sites, somebody posted a page from service manual that had something about a sensor in the mastercyl.

Either would be ok with me.
I just don't want to go through a complete wire by wire front to back check. That would cost$$$.
All other light terminals work fine. just no power to electric brake.
Also been dry as a bone here for weeks so no rain seeping in somewhere.

I am pulling with a F250 6.2 with 4.30 diffy and 2 WD. Had to order it to get the 2WD :B fifth wheel is usually just shy of 10K.

No problems since truck was new in 2012.

I towed a 37' 5er that weighed about 12k.

Looking for a new truck???

Considering combining 2 trucks to one, but it needs to tow my nearly 11k 37' travel trailer yet get decent mileage b/c I drive 50k miles a year for work and it also needs to be decent in the mud and nimble enough offroad for work (Forester-Land and Timber Management). Right now I use my Ram 3500 diesel for mostly towing and some travel (9-10k miles a year total)and my Tacoma for work (50k miles a year).

A diesel ram-CC SB is what I want but the weight of the diesel engine offroad is a concern. Other than that it's perfect for everything else. Briefly thought about the F150 ecoboost but it's really just not enough truck unless I downsize the camper a lot and I think it's over priced compared to what you can get in a 2500 or 3500.

With the caveat that were talking about a nearly 8000 lb, front heavy and long truck, it does surprisingly well offroad. And I'm still using the **** stock tires. The suspension flexes reasonably well, and the large tires provide ample ground clearance particularly with the solid axle suspension characteristics. The sheer size of the thing hurts on tighter roads. The weight hasn't been an issue but I'm sure you deal with a lot more mud where you live than I do out west. Mileage is great considering the size/capability, and it really isn't much more expensive than an F150 Ecoboost. I paid $4k more than a coworker who bought a comparably equipped F150 around the same time, and if you equip that F150 with max tow, heavy payload and the 3.5 it would have been as much or more.

With similarly equipped trucks I've been pricing a Ram 2500 6.4 at about $5,000 less than the F150 ecoboost around here
