I'd like to see it hitched up to it's max and taken to the grade. This truck did a fine job with 17k lbs in my opinion but, I'd like to see if it lives up to it's hype. Now with even more tow capacity, lets see what it does with that much weight. 44mph at 2800rpm with foot to floor is nowhere near the claims here of easing up the grades at the speed limit in O/D at less than 2k rpm at half the truck's tow rating.

I agree steve. The new spec is gcwr at a minimum of 35 or 40 mph on a 5% grade! Yeah i 100F temps, with AC on. but none the less, slower than the minimum speed limit here in washington state, which is 45! so while it may meet the SAE towing spec, it does not meet the legal spec of some of the local hwys! I doubt a judge will buy the,"it meets jxxxx spec" so I must be legal!
A min in first gear 12%, pretty shallow grade actually. When here in seattle I have been up and down a few 24% grades. At max gcwr NONE of the newest and greates deezals would make that spec! So one will be sitting at the bottom of said hill blowing up there almighty 6 spd auto trans, as I have done with other previous supposidly bullet proof auto transmissions........
At the end of the day, if the seats fit your butdinsky, you like the color, shape, has the power etc you need. Buy the blinken truck! Opions are like rear ends, we all have them, at some point in time, they all let out a stinky one.....except my wife of course......

Do they allow vehicles longer than 25ft on those 24% grades?
No sign at bottom or top that says a vehicle of a given size is not allowed on them grades. Had a client with 33% grade driveway off of lake washington. We had a 3 axel dump trucks "BACK" down, do a 90* turn, dump a 1/2 truck length back, then drive up the driveway. If the brakes failed, truck would go thru the garage, kitchen and 30' later end up in Lk Washington. There is a blocl f Queen Anne ave on the north side of Queen Anne hill that is 24%. Built a block wall on the side of it. My sister has an 18% grade in the front of her house east of Lake Washington. Lots of roads around here with 15+% grade signs on them, no length or weight limits for the most part. A few do, but less than 5% of them have restrictions.
