Range hood light

My range hood light currently uses a E27 screw in 12v bulb . I would like to change it to an LED B15s to match all the other interior bulbs . My question is will it hold up in that environment with the moisture and heat ? Anyone have experience with LEDs in that location ?
  • I can't say that particular bulb will work but about 5 years ago, maybe longer I removed the fan and light in my hood. I replaced it with a 6buld LED fixture and it has not given me any problems. I just wired into one of the switches.

Now someone is gonna ask why did I remove everything. The answer is, it was not vented to the outside so it really did nothing except make noise and eat amps.
  • I had one in that spot for almost 2 years with no problems.

    Go for it!
  • I changed our wedge style bulb to bayonet BA15 to use same 1141/1156 LEDs as other lights. Used socket from auto parts

Its been in vent about 5 1/2 years with no issues.

  • I swapped out the original lamp with a 360º style, wedge base LED. Zero issues after 3+ years of regular use. I also cobbled together a reflector/baffle to put the lumens where they were useful.
  • Thanks all for the benefit of your experience , I'll give it a shot .

I am running LED in the range hood, as well as the outdoor porch lights. No problems.
