Does anyone have any documented ready to use weights? I have a 2008 crew cab duramax dually I know I am going to be "over" the 11,400 gvwr but how far is the real question?

I have an '06 chevy dually with a 6.6 duramax, allison tranny and I have air bags and load stops and I run a superhitch with a 44" truss.

I need to update my avitar seeings that truck in picture was totaled by a DD but it's basically the same truck and running gear.

I almost want to say I tipped the scales one time at 14,200# and I always have the truck in tow haul when camper is on, sometimes I put a rack on the back and haul a propane 3500W generator.

I tow a buddy's 21' thunderjet and with the camper on you know your hauling something.

Grit,

That spec sheet is for '13 model year fords. I believe the new f450's have s110 now not that I do not agree that a Dana 80 is pretty bullet proof...but it makes that 450 up charge a little easier to justify.

I'm laughing here as I'm a solid 5-6 years from a new truck and who know where we will be In that time frame...lol

Ha, I keep thinking about a new truck, but mine hasn't given me a good reason yet...
In less than 3 years, my oldest will get one or the other as a birthday present. An old clapped out Dodge pickup, or a srt8 charger with a butt load of miles. Both are well over 100k now and aren't giving me cause to replace them. I'm going to go knock on wood now...
Honestly I'm waiting for the 5th gen Rams, 2nd year, so that'll be about 4 years out.
8 speed ZF trans and 1000ft lbs that sips def as gingerly as it sips fuel would be nice.

I'd buy you a beer, we think alike! My oldest is 11 so I'm 5-6 years out and my truck just turned 90k. I put brakes and a water pump on it! I know my trans will need a VB in the next 10-20k and I could kill it in three minutes if I crank up my tuner...

But 5th gen sound exciting! It would be nice to feel 1000 lbs of torque without backing off to save the trans! I felt my Toruqe converter shutter today rolling into the throttle with just my boat coming out of a corner....sigh, I don't want to write a $5500 check but......it would be fun to hit the wood with a load just once!

You gotta light one!
I've never weighed either of my 860s, but the 03 model I have now "feels" a tad lighter than the 05 I had, although that may be just because it's easier to load without the extra width in the truck box.

For the tiny tiny difference in purchase price of the F250 versus the F350SRW, it is far better to get the F350SRW, instead of the F250. Same goes for the GM and Dodge 2500 versus 3500SRW.

Trucks these days are $50,000-$80,000 new. The extra measily $500 for the one-ton SRW versus the 3/4-ton is mere peanut crumbs, in the scheme of things. Buy the right truck from the get-go!

Have you been on a dealer lot recently? A large dealer may have a dozen 2500's on the lot, and maybe ONE 3500 SRW. In "fleet truck" trim, meaning lily white, crank windows, puke-on floors, vinyl seats, regular cab...

I've sat here for years and read you guys saying, "Just get a 3500 SRW," but they simply aren't out there! The only way to get one is to order one.

If you want a truck *NOW* you are stuck with a 2500.

If one can arrange delivery or make the trip to Texas... Plenty of 3500 SRWs and DRWs.

The Ford 10.50" and Dana 80 axles are not being used in the '17 Fords, if I remember the article correctly that someone posted here recently. The Ford 10.50" in the F250/350SRW has been replaced by a new Dana M275 axle and the Dana 80 in the F350DRW has been replaced by a new Dana M300 axle, from my understanding.

The F450 pickup when it first came out in 2008 used the Dana S110 rear axle, wide track front axle, and 19.5" wheels, until 2010.

Then it was downgraded to using a Dana 80 rear axle, standard width front axle and 17" wheels. So it wasn't appreciably different than an F350DRW during those years.

Recently, I think 2015?, it was upgraded back the Dana S-series rear axle, wide track front axle and 19.5" wheels.

For all years of the F450 pickup, it has only been available as a crew cab, with the diesel engine, automatic transmission, and upper trim level packages, so far as I can recall.

Interesting, based on those specs posted there is even less physical difference and more marketing difference between the 350drw and 450 pickup. I was wrong in my Ford assumption above.
No S110 axle until you step up to the C&C apparently. Not that a Dana 80 isn't tough as nails anyway.
Since this turned into the 350v450 thread, lol.
Looks to me then that a 450 pickup is essentially a 350 drw widetrak with 19.5s.
Can't go wrong either way, and like SoCal said, order the one you want if it's important to you.

Look no further than 9900lb gvw 2500s that are no different than a 12000lb gvw 3500 save for the badge on the fender.

So what 9,900 gvw 2500 is exactly the same as a 12k gvw 3500 other than the badge? EXACTLY the same! ????? If that's true why do you have ''Firestone Bags, Big Wig swaybar, homemade stable loads'' on your 2500??

Honestly I think you are being misleading and helping people justify their 250/2500 carrying a 5k truck camper... ''cause you just need to add some better wheels''.......

Don't take everything in such a literal sense. My 9 year old does that, but he's just learning.
You've read enough of my posts to know what I mean.
Btw, I'd have that same stuff on a 3500 as well. Maybe not the airbags if it was one with a 5k or better payload.

So order one. What's so hard about that? Then, you can have the truck exactly the way you want it!

We're talking a big-money purchase here.

This is not buying one flavor or the other of 99 cent M&M's at the grocery store checkout line, where you take whatever flavor they happen to have and be happy about it, because you certainly aren't going to wait another week or month to buy your groceries, over a piddly thing like M&M's flavors.

A $50,000+ purchase is certainly worth carefully planning and thinking about and ordering and waiting for.

Like buying a house. How many homes did you visit before finally coming to a decision and making an offer on the one you wanted, and how much time did you spend counter offering and haggling the details until you were happy and finally said go, and then how long did you wait for all the escrow process to be done, before you could finally move into it? And I'm sure it was well worth the time, cause your wife was happy about the new house!

Now days, a new truck cost more than a new house did not too long ago. I dont personally view a new vehicle purchase as an impulse decision, gotta have it right this minute, and take whatever they happen to have, whether I like it or not.

Even with a used vehicle, I don't jump on the first one I find, just because it's there. I search long and hard to find just what I want, or as close to as possible, at a good price and condition that I can accept.
