Rear ladder that doesn't go to the top

My previous 2012 Adventurer 86 FB was the same set up. It was fairly easy to get up on the roof but tricky to step back down on to ladder for sure.

I have a full awning and roof grab rail and I store my kayaks on the roof racks. it works very well

yeah this thing is pretty sketchy, getting up there is bad enough but getting back down is worse. I don't have an escape hatch, the side window is an escape model, I do miss that feature from the old camper.

I may look into installing a grab handle, but I am a bit paranoid of putting more holes in the roof. I think it may have to wait as I may want to install an actual roof rack instead.

I am seriuosly considering not reinstalling my ladder when I do the rebuild. I can only think of a few times I even used the darn thing...one to sight along the roof to see if I had enuf clearance for a low RR bridge...the other HUMMM!!!
Yes I have hung a few things form it...but there could have been another way. I just don't get on the roof from the ladder...always thru the escape hatch much safer.
I know that some TC's do not have big roof hacthes and use the side window escape system...that is further than I want to drop...much rather go to roof and slide down the front to the hood of truck and off to ground.

You could consider going onto the roof via the skylight if you have one. I don't think there is a lot of reasons for most people to get on the roofs, so you don't have go up there much. Mine has an awning but the ladder goes higher and I have the little roof rack at the back to hold onto.

Off topic but was funny to see. A couple weekends ago I was camping and in the campground was a Mercedes Sprinter (those really tall class B's) with a roof tent on it. We think we have a long way to climb to the roof of our TCers, this guy was another couple of feet higher.

I would hate to get up in the middle of the night and forget where I was :B :?

They make disconnecting ladders for toy haulers that go up the side. There would no reason you could not use one of those but where would you store it when not connected?

It would be tough to have the latter extend up to the roof with the rear awning...

Plus, you have several fewer holes in the roof to start leaking on you.
