I was pulled over for a an obscured license plate because I had a ball hitch installed in the OEM step bumper. At this point my truck was 14 years old and had the same ball and bumper on it since new. It was obviously just a reason to pull me over to verify license, registration and insurance, but I did question the local LEO how many people he knew that removed the ball every time they unhitched their trailer and whether he thought it was a reasonable request. I told him I have no problem showing him valid documentation, but I don't want to have worry about being ticketed for something like this.
