Reese DC question

We're back in a TT and I've been researching WD hitches and have settled on the Reese DC. I searched but couldn't find and answer I'm looking for. When turning sharp will the bar roll off the cam?

I've read you can back up with them but what if you have to do some sharp turning to get in tight spaces. From the videos I've seen it looks like it comes close on normal turns.

Thanks

I would say if you have a bar come off, it's probably the bar head making contact with the ball threads or some other part of the hitch. On mine, I have a coupler on top the A frame and the bar head housing was making contact on tight turns and pushing the bar out. I had to an elevated ball to gain enough clearance. Other than that, there's no way the bar should come out, IMO. J Barca can set you straight. He's "the man" on those hitches. Not to mention a bunch of other stuff too! Maybe he'll chime in with his thoughts. Installed and set up properly, it's a great system I think. A lot of misinformation along the way to getting there sometimes, though. Be careful who you listen to.

Thanks for all the replies. So you basically have to jack knife it to come off the cam. That's what I wanted to know.

I've researched the "affordable" hitches and I like the physics behind the Reese DC. The equal-I-zer looks really good but I see the same friction that resists sway also resists it going back to straight where as the RDC helps it to go back to being straight.

I bought a Reese HP trunion style WDH with integrated cams in the bars incase I decide to add the DC arms later. I may add them this summer. Reese has treated us very well for decades. No desire or need to change.

12 years and no problems. I think issues arise if the mounting dimensions aren't followed exactly. I had to move the propane tank mount to get it in the right spot.

The DC is a good setup but there have been some modern hitch designs released since then.
If I had to replace it I would do a lot of research.

We used a Dual Cam for over 10 years....never had a problem backing or had a bar jump out of the cam...The DC is a really good hitch.

New trailer, thought I'd give Blue Ox Sway Pro a try and glad I did. Much easier to install and set up, absolutely quiet, does just as good a job with sway as the DC, no exposed grease on the bar ends.

Another who has been using the Reese DC for years with no bar coming off or any other issues. I would use this system again just make sure you understand the system of how it is setup so you can fine tune it once you have your trailer ready and loaded for camping.
I love me some land yachting

Best system out there for me!

X1, used the DC for 11 yrs. on a 32' TT and never had a problem. Great sway control in almost accident type situations. A car had a flat and then swerved into the rear of my truck, my truck traveled from the far right hand lane to the outside of the left lane. the truck and trailer just make a big "S" pattern and then straightened right up as I pulled back into the right lane to stop and inspect for damage. I felt I had complete control at all times.

I previously used the Reese Dual Cam for 8 years and never had an issue with the bar coming off the cam.
