Replacment tire for my truck

Hi,
I need to replace the tires on my 05 Ram CTD dually. Looking for options. I am running General Grabber LT235/80R17-120/117R load rating E now. I have nothing bad to say about them or anything great. We full time and pull a 14k 5er. No winter driving to speak of except early arrival in Wyoming but I don't drive in bad weather. I know the dually will slip and slide.

Thanks

I put 4 Michelin LTX A/T 2 (load range E) tires on our van in 2008. I just replaced 2 that were worn out (12-15k miles per year); the other two will likley be replaced next year. The sidewalls still look good.

I like Michelin but by the time you can see the cords through the cracks the tire is rotten. I'm currently using Michelin XPS ribs on my 5ver love them so far. You might want to consider these for your truck, my son had them on his last truck and the local phone/internet company are using them on their entire truck fleet also my daughters large environmental firm just switched to them. Multi mile

I've run Michelins for years and had 1 blowout due to tire rubiing, not a tire fault and 1 ruined die to a engine valve run through the tread. Ran Shook tires made in Ok city and they were good tires aw well. Ran Bridgestones on a Peterbilt but did'nt like them. Have about 2 million miles on Michelins. If a tire does'nt show cords through the cracks on the sidewall it is considered safe to use according to manufacturing.

I'm with Dan on the Rugged Trails. I had them on a previous truck and had great luck with them. I'll go back to them when the Transforces on my current truck are done.

My Dodge came with BFG Rugged Trail TA and got over 70,000 on them. I started to look around for replacements and then "Why Change" so I am on a new set of the same tire. Good Luck in your venture and have a Merry Christmas.

I have 60,000 on Michelin LT 265/75R16 load range e.
They are not quite to the wear bars yet .
They do not have cracking .
If I was to switch I would only consider Continental and Bridgestone .
specifically Bridgestone Duravis R 500 on the load range E or a couple of different Continental LRE tires .
Michelin's have never gone out of balance , have worn evenly , and are still very quiet after 5 years .

I have had great luck with Michelin tires also BFG's. I get over 100K out of a set on my 98 4x4RAM Cummins.

My 11 Dually came with POS General Ameritrack's they were 2/3 gone at 25K and developed a tread bulge at that mileage. So I replaced them with Michelin MS2's and have 15K on them and don't show any wear.

$1,400 out the door at Discount Tire in Vegas.

I would stay away from Michelin right now. I bought a set for my TV 3 years ago and last spring I noticed cracking on sidewall. I took back to dealer and was told they don't warrant cracking sidewall. They were only 2 1/2 years old. They are worst now and I will replace before next spring. I checked the recall out but my size is not in the recall yet. I think Michelin quality like other things has gone down hill. I will never buy Michelin again.

Hankook has gotten some great reviews and for the price they may be hard to beat. Next in line would probably be BFG Commercial TA, then Michelin. There are a lot of others that people really like, but those seem to be three of the best.
