It was common to use as "slides" in the 1960's in Australia.The Expanda Van was Fibereglass and competed with another " Egg" the Sunliner, which is being produced again

This Double slide version is  made of fibreglass, Other owners of the Company made them in Aluminium. Each slide had space for twin beds
